Arkeoloji bilimi temelde, eski uygarlıkların yaşam tarzlarının, kültürel etkinliklerinin ve teknolojik faaliyetlerinin araştırılmasını hedefler. Arkeolojik kazı çalışmalarında zaman, ekonomi ve yanlış kazı ile tarihi buluntuların zarar görmemesi oldukça önemlidir. Arkeolojik alanlarda yanlış yerden başlatılacak bir kazı, çalışmanın maliyetinin artmasına ve tarihi eserlerin zarar görmesine sebep olabilir. Bu durumun önlenmesinde jeofiziğin önemli katkıları olmuştur. Kazmadan, yeraltındaki nesnelerin görüntüsü ancak jeofizik yöntemlerle belirlenebilir. Arkeolojik çalışma yapılacak alanda kalıntının gömülü olması ve çoğu zaman yüzeyde herhangi bir belirtinin olmayışı, kazıya nereden başlanacağı konusunda ciddi sıkıntılar yaşatmaktadır. Bu tür çalışmalar çok büyük emek, zaman ve para gerektirdiğinden, yapıya ait parametrelerin önceden bilinebilmesi arkeolojik çalışmalara çok büyük yarar sağlayacaktır. Bu tez çalışmasında, Güdül ilçesi Çağa mevkiindeki (Ankara, Türkiye) Roma Hamamı kazı alanı yakınında muhtemel gömülü arkeolojik kalıntılar jeofizik yöntemler ile araştırılmıştır. Kazı alanı etrafında olası gömülü arkeolojik yapıları araştırmak için, jeofiziğin elektrik özdirenç tomografi (ERT) ve yer radarı (GPR) yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. GPR ölçümleri 20 profil boyunca, ERT ölçümleri 3 profil boyunca gerçekleştirildi. Bu yöntemlerden elde edilen verilerin değerlendirilmesi ve yorumlanması ile arkeolojik yapıya karşılık gelen anomaliler GPR ve ERT bölümlerinde gözlenmiştir. Jeofizik yüzey araştırması sonucunda, kazı alanının güney kısmında hamam duvarı uzantısı tespit edilmiştir. Bu yeni bulgular bir sonraki arkeolojik kazıya yön verecektir. Archaeology is primarily aimed at investigating the lifestyles, cultural activities and technological activities of ancient civilizations. In the archaeological excavations, time, economy and wrong excavation and the destruction of historical finds are very important. An excavation in the archaeological sites from the wrong place can lead to an increase in the cost of the work and damage to historical artifacts. Geophysical investigations made important contributions to prevent this situation. The buried materials without excavation can only be determined using geophysical methods. The fact that the remains were covered in the area where archaeological study will be carried out and that there is no indication on the surface most of the time causes serious problems about where to start the excavation. Since such studies require enormous labor, time and money, the knowledge of the parameters of the structure will be of great benefit to archaeological studies. In this thesis, likely buried archaeological remains near the Roman bath excavation area (Ankara Güdül-Çağa, Turkey) were investigated by geophysical methods. Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) and ground penetrating radar (GPR) methods of the geophysics were used to investigate possible buried archaeological structures around the excavation area. GPR measurements were conducted along 20 profiles while ERT measurements along 3 profiles. With the evaluation and the interpretation of the data obtained from these methods, the anomalies corresponding to the archaeological structure remains were observed on GPR and ERT sections. As a result of the geophysical survey, the bath wall extension was found in the southern part of the excavation area.
