Tez kapsamında tarihsel süreç içerisinde birçok kültüre ve medeniyete ev sahipliği yapmış olan Alanya'nın Gayrimüslim toplumu ve kilise yapıları incelenmiş, bu yapılarının koruma sorunları belirlenmiştir. Koruma kapsamında değerlendirme yapılırken daha doğru bir analiz yapılabilmesi için mimari çalışmaların yanı sıra ekonomi, sosyoloji, tarihsel gelişimi gibi diğer etmenler de incelenmiştir. Bir bölümde Alanya yerleşiminin coğrafi durumu, tarihi ve fiziksel gelişimi incelenmiş, 'Gayrimüslim kavramı ve tarihsel gelişimi' alt başlığında, Selçuklu ve Osmanlı Dönemlerindeki Gayrimüslimlerin sosyal, ekonomik ve siyasi durumlarına yer verilmiştir. Türk Ortodokslar (Karamanlılar) kavramı ele alındıktan sonra 'Kilise Mimarisi' başlığında kilise kavramı ve kilise mimarisi incelenmiş, tescilli 15 Alanya kilisesi kroki çalışmaları ve fotoğraflama yöntemi ile belgelenmiş, bu belgelerde yapıların konumları, plan şemaları, cephe düzenleri, yapım sistemi ve malzeme özellikleri, bezeme özellikleri, korunmuşluk durumları ve kiliselerde meydana gelen bozulmalar ayrıntılı olarak sunulmuştur. Sonuç olarak, ilk defa bu tez çalışmasında ayrıntılı olarak belgelenen ve korunmuşluk durumları analiz edilen Alanya Kiliseleri için yapılardaki bozulma sebepleri değerlendirilerek koruma önerisi sunulmuştur. Kent dokusunun önemli birer öğesi olan bu yapılar aynı zamanda inşa edildikleri dönemlerin mimari birikimini, siyasal durumunu, sosyal ve ekonomik yaşamını gösteren belge niteliğinde olduğu için en kısa zamanda terk edilmişlikten kurtarılarak korunmalarının gerekliliği vurgulanmıştır. Çalışmada, koruma kapsamında bir referans olarak Alanya Kiliselerinin ve yok olmaya yüz tutmuş diğer tüm kilise yapılarının korunmasına yönelik olumlu ve somut bir katkı sağlanmış ve incelenen kilise yapılarına yönelik nitelikli bir belgeleme yapılmıştır. Within the scope of the thesis, non-Muslim society and church buildings of Alanya, which have hosted many cultures and civilizations in the historical process, have been examined and their conservation problems have been determined. In addition to architectural studies, other factors such as economics, sociology and historical process have been examined in order to make a more accurate analysis when evaluating within the scope of conservation. For this reason, the geographic situation, historical and physical development of the Alanya settlement was examined in one of the chapters. The social, economic and political conditions of non-Muslims in the Seljuk and Ottoman periods are included in the sub-title of "Non-Muslim concept and historical development" After the discussion of Turkish Orthodox (Karamanian) concept, the church concept and church architecture were examined in the title of "Church Architecture". 15 registered churches in Alanya have been documented with sketch studies and photographing methods. The locations of these structures, plan schemes, facade layouts, construction systems and material properties, decoration features, conservation status and disturbances in churches are presented in detail. Consequently Alanya Churches, which are documented in this thesis for the first time, have been analyzed in detail according to their conservation status. Conservation suggestions for Alanya churches were presented by evaluating the reasons for the deterioration of the structures. These structures, important elements of urban texture, are also documents of the architectural accumulation, political history, social and economic life of the periods in which they were built. In this regard, the necessity of saving these churches from abandonment as soon as possible and their protection has been emphasized. The study provided a positive and concrete contribution in the scope of conservation to the conservation of Alanya Churches as a reference to all other church buildings that are facing extinction and a qualified documentation for the church structures examined.
