Sürekli gelişim, nüfus artışı, teknolojik, ekonomik ve kültürel değişimler, rant kavgaları ile açık yeşil alanların yok olması, kentlerin insan yaşamı için ruhsal ve fiziksel yönden yetersiz bir çevre haline gelmesine neden olmaktadır. Bozulan çevre koşulları içerinde yaşantısını sürdürme çabasında olan kent insanı daha sağlıklı, fonksiyonel ve estetik bir peyzaj oluşturmayı amaçlamaktadır. Halkın rekreasyonel ihtiyaçlarının karşılanması, kentin fiziksel yapısının iyileştirilmesi yani insan-peyzaj ilişkilerinin düzenlenmesi ancak doğru bir açık yeşil alan sisteminin oluşturulmasına bağlıdır. Bu çalışmada Bodrum'un Turgutreis Mahallesinde bulunan Şevket Sabancı Parkının kent içi yeşil alan sistemindeki yeri ve fonksiyonu ile parkın insanlar üzerindeki etkilerinin araştırılması ve aynı zamanda parkta bulunan donatıların peyzaj mimarlığı kriterlerine uygunluğunun araştırılması amaçlanmaktadır. Alanda yapılan anket çalışmasına göre parkın bakımsızlığı en çok memnuniyetsizlik veren durumların başında gelmektedir. Genel olarak donatı elemanlarının uyumsuzluğu ve bakımsızlığı söz konusudur. Ayrıca alanda çocuk oyun alanının tasarlanmamış olması önemli bir eksiktir. Parktaki mevcut sulama sisteminin kullanılamaz olması ve elle sulama yapılması çimlerin ve bütün bitkilerin görüntüsünü etkilediği ve böylece drenaj problemlerinin ortaya çıktığı belirlenmiştir.
Continuous development, population growth, technological, economic and cultural changes, rent competitions annihilate open green areas causing the cities to become a mentally and physically insufficient environment for human life. The city, that is striving to survive in the deteriorated environmental conditions, aims to create a healthier, functional and aesthetic landscape. Meeting the recreational needs of people, improving the physical structure of the city, arranging human-landscape relations depends only on the creation of an accurate open green space system. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the Şevket Sabancı Park located in the Turgutreis neighborhood of Bodrum in terms of the place and function of urban green areas and the effects of parks on people and also to investigate the suitability of the furniture in the park with the criteria of landscape architecture. According to the survey conducted in the field, the park's lack of care is one of the most unsatisfied situations. In general, the incompatibility and lack of care of urban furniture is discussed. In addition, the lack of a children's playground in the area is an important deficiency. It was determined that the existing irrigation system in the park could not be used and watering manually affected the appearance of lawns and all plants, resulting in drainage problems.
