Darbe; düşük, orta veya yüksek hızlarda çok kısa bir süre içinde, bir malzeme veya yapı üzerine uygulanan anlık bir dış kuvvet olarak tanımlanabilir. Kompozit malzemelerde darbe davranışı belirlenirken; kuvvet-çökme eğrileri, kuvvetzaman eğrileri, çökme - zaman eğrileri, absorbe edilen enerji-zaman eğrileri, hızzaman eğrileri ve enerji profili metodundan faydalanılır. Bu çalışmada, farklı oranlarda alümina ve silika içeren kevlar-cam elyaf/epoksi reçineli hibrit kompozit numunelerin artan darbe enerjisi altındaki darbe davranışları incelenmiştir. Alümina ve silika katkılarının etkisini araştırmak amacıyla 12 tabakalı 7 farklı grup alümina ve silika katkılı kevlar-cam elyaf/epoksi reçineli hibrit kompozit malzeme üretilmiştir. Hibrit kompozitlerin darbe testinde darbe uygulanan üst yüzey olarak kevlar yüzey seçilmiştir. Darbe deneylerinde vurucu uç etkisinin araştırmak amacıyla 3 farklı vurucu darbe uç çapı (10mm, 12.7mm ve 20mm) kullanılmıştır. 10 mm vurucu uç için 60J, 12.7 mm vurucu uç için 10J, 20J, 30J, 60J ve 20 mm vurucu uç için 60J, 90J, 120J artan darbe enerjilerinde kompozitlere darbe deneyleri uygulanmıştır. Darbe testleri CEAST Fractovis Plus darbe test cihazı ile yapılmıştır. Deneysel çalışma sonucunda, darbe enerjisi değerleri arttıkça maksimum kuvvet ve çökme miktarı değerlerinin de arttığı görülmüştür. Bunun yanısıra darbe uygulanmayan alt yüzeydeki deformasyon alanının darbe uygulanan üst yüzeydeki deformasyon alanına göre daha büyük olduğu görülmüştür. 20 mm vurucu uç ile yapılan darbe deneylerinde 120J darbe enerjisine kadar çıkılmasına rağmen delinmenin gerçekleşmediği, 10mm ve 12,7 mm vurucu uçları ile yapılan darbe deneylerinde ise daha düşük darbe enerjisi değerinde (60J) delinmenin meydana geldiği görülmüştür. Farklı alümina ve silika katkı oranlarına sahip hibrit kompozitler karşılaştırıldığında, 7 grup içerisinde %3 alümina ve %2 silika içeren A3S2 numunesinin maksimum kuvvet değerinin en yüksek olduğu, diğer numunelerin mukavemetinden daha yüksek bir mukavemete sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Hibrit kompozit numunelerde, düşük darbe enerjileri için darbe uygulanan üst yüzeylerde ilk önce ezilme izi ve matris çatlağı ile başlayan hasar modu, darbe enerjisinin artmasıyla numune kalınlığı boyunca fiber kırılmalarının baskın olduğu hasar moduna dönüşmektedir. Darbe uygulanmamış olan alt yüzeylerde ise küçük delaminasyonlar ve fiberler arası ayrılma olarak başlayan hasar modu, darbe enerjisinin artmasıyla delaminasyon alanlarının genişlediği ve bazı fiberlerin matrisden ayrıldığı bir hasar moduna dönüşmektedir. Impact can be defined as an instantaneous external force applied to a material or a structure in a very short time at low, medium or high speeds. While determining the impact behavior of composite materials; load-deflection, force-time, deflection-time, absorbed energy-time, velocity-time curves and energy profile method are utilized to compare each together. In this study, the impact behavior of kevlar-glass fabric penetrated epoxy resin hybrid composite samples which contains various ratio of alumina and silica under increasing impact energy was investigated. In order to investigate the effect of alumina and silica additives, seven different ratio of twelve-layered alumina and silica added kevlar-glass fiber / epoxy resin hybrid composite material were produced. Aramid fabric (Kevlar) surface was chosen as the applied impact surface for the impact test of hybrid composites. Also, three different impact probe diameter (10mm, 12.7mm and 20mm) were used to investigate and compare the impact energy. Impact tests were applied to composites at three set of strikers such as 10 mm striker applied under 60J impact energy, 12.7mm striker applied under 10J, 20J, 30J and 60J impact energy while 20mm striker applied to 60J, 90J, 120J impact energy. Impact tests were performed with CEAST Fractovis Plus impact tester. As a result of the experimental study, it was seen that the maximum force and deflection surface area increased as the impact energy values increased. In addition, it was found that the deflection area on the backside of the impact surface was larger than the deformation area on the upfront impacted surface. In the impact tests performed with 20 mm strike probe, it was observed that there is no penetration occured event at impact energy reached up to 120J. However, for 10 and 12.7mm strike probe, the presence of penetration is seen at 60J impact energy. When comparing hybrid composites with different alumina and silica additive ratios, it was observed that maximum strength value of A3S2, which is made of %3 wt of alumina and %2wt. of silica, sample was the highest among other groups and also show higher mechanical strength. In hybrid composite samples, the damage mode, which first starts with crush marks and matrix cracks on impact surfaces for low impact energies, is transformed into damage mode where fiber breaks are dominant throughout the sample thickness with increasing impact energy. The damage mode, which starts as small delamination and inter-fiber separation on backside of the composites, where no impact applied, is transformed into a damage mode in which the delamination areas are expanded and some fibers are separated from the matrix as the impact energy increases.
