İnsan-düşey sirkülâsyon ilişkisi ve mimaride yaşanan gelişmeler, insan odaklı tasarım yaklaşımında kullanıcı memnuniyetini gerekli kılmaktadır. Ancak, insanı memnun edecek şekilde tasarlanması gereken mimari ögelerde, böylesi bir gereksinim çoğu zaman ihmal edilmektedir. Bu durum göz önünde bulundurulduğunda; günlük hayatta yoğun bir şekilde kullanılan merdivenlerde, düşey sirkülâsyon ihtiyacı merkezli kullanıcı memnuniyeti üzerinde durulması gerekir. Yapılan literatür taraması sonucunda, yaya hareketlerinin incelendiği çalışmalarda, kullanıcı memnuniyeti üzerinde durulduğu görülmüş fakat düşey sirkülâsyon araçlarında kullanıcı memnuniyeti ile ilgili detaylı bir çalışmaya rastlanılmamıştır. Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, merdivenleri, kullanıcı memnuniyeti bağlamında inceleyerek, insanların rahat kullanabileceği düşey sirkülâsyon alanı boyutlarını ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmanın temel amacı doğrultusunda merdiven kullanıcı memnuniyetine yönelik ulusal literatür boşluğunu doldurmak hedeflenmiştir. Ayrıca, Türk toplumuna uygun merdiven standartlarını belirleyerek, Türk mimarisinin gelişim ve iyileştirilmesine katkı sunmak da amaçlar arasındadır. Bu amaçlar doğrultusunda Tabakalı Amaçsal Örnekleme Metoduyla, 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılında Isparta Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi'nde öğrenim görmekte olan 18-40 yaş aralığındaki 400 lisans öğrencisini kapsayan araştırma örneklemi oluşturulmuştur. Deneysel ve anket yöntemlerinin beraber kullanıldığı çalışmada; katılımcıların çeşitli antropometrik boyutları ölçülmüş, farklı basamak formlarının deneyimlenebildiği prototip merdiven modeli uygulaması kullanılmış, literatür taraması yapılmış, öncül çalışmalardan farklı olarak, kullanıcı memnuniyetini etkileyen faktörlere yönelik sorulardan oluşan anket uygulaması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler SPSS paket programı kullanılarak analizlere tabi tutulmuş ve çalışmanın hedefleri doğrultusunda bulgulara ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda merdivenlerde kullanıcı memnuniyetini etkileyen faktörlere yönelik kuramsal temel oluşturulmuştur. Literatürdeki boşluğa odakla oluşturulan bu temelden hareketle, günlük hayatta kullanılan merdivenler değerlendirilmiştir. Kullanıcı memnuniyetini etkileyen faktörler, insanların fiziksel ve psikolojik gereksinimleri kapsamında ele alınarak çeşitli bulgulara ulaşılmıştır. İnsanların antropometrik boyut farklılıklarının, merdivenlerin konfor algı düzeyine etkisinin olduğu ve farklı basamak formlarının tercihinde rol oynadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Türkiye'de inşa edilen merdiven standartlarında, antropometrik boyutlar ile kullanıcı memnuniyeti arasındaki ilişkinin dikkate alınmadığı görülmüştür. Öncül çalışmalardan farklı olarak, çalışma sonucunda öne çıkan verilerden biri de, merdivenlerdeki boyutsal gereksinimlere karşılık gelen, bacak açısı değer aralığıdır. Katılımcıların kullanıcı memnuniyeti bu açı ilişkisi üzerinden sorgulanarak, fiziksel konfor aralığı elde edilmiştir. Human-vertical circulation relationship and the developments in architecture necessitated user satisfaction in human-oriented design approach. However, such a requirement is often neglect in the architectural elements, which should be designed in a way that satisfies human being. Considering this situation; in the stairs, intensively used in daily life, the requirement for vertical circulation-centered user satisfaction should be discoursed. As a result of the literature review, it was observed that the user satisfaction was emphasized in the studies that examined the pedestrian movements, but no detailed study was found on the user satisfaction in the vertical circulation tools. The main aim of this research is to examine the sizes of vertical circulation areas that people can use comfortably by examining the stairs in the context of user satisfaction. In line with the main purpose of the study, it is aimed to fill the national literature gap for stair user satisfaction. In addition, stairs standards used in Turkey, for Turkish society to create the necessary recommendations on standards development by taking over the appropriateness and improvement are among the targets. In addition, it is also aimed to contribute to the development and improvement of Turkish architecture by setting stair standards according to Turkish society. For this purpose, a research sample, consisting of 400 undergraduate students of Isparta Süleyman Demirel University between the ages of 18 and 40 in the academic year of 2018-2019 was established by Stratified Purposive Sampling Method. In the study where experimental and questionnaire methods were used together; various anthropometric dimensions of the participants were measured, prototype stairs model where different step forms could be experienced was used, literature review was performed, unlike the preliminary studies, the questionnaire form consist of the questions about user satisfaction of stairs was applied to the participants. The data were analyzed by using SPSS package program and the findings were reached according to the aims of the study. As a result of the research, a theoretical basis for the factors affecting the user satisfaction has been established. Based on this foundation, focusing on the gap in the literature, the stairs used in daily life were evaluated. Factors affecting the satisfaction of the user were taken into consideration within the scope of the physical and psychological requirements of people and various findings were reached. In this dissertation, Some anthropometric sizes were measured in order to create stair design proposals for Turkish society. Accordingly, unlike the literature examined, it has been concluded that there is an increase in the height of the Turkish population in the 18-23 age range. It has been concluded that the anthropometric size differences of people have an effect on the comfort perception level of the stairs and play a role in the choice of different step forms. It has been observed that the relationship between stairs and user satisfaction was not taken into account in Turkey. Unlike the preliminary studies, one of the leading data for the study is the leg angle value range, which corresponds to the dimensional requirements of the stairs. The user satisfaction of the participants was questioned through this angle relationship and the physical comfort range was obtained.
