Dünya üzerindeki su kaynaklarının arttırılması mümkün olmamasına rağmen dünya nüfusunun artışına paralel olarak temiz su ihtiyacı sürekli artmaktadır. Bu nedenle kullanıma elverişli olmayan suların sterilize edilerek yeniden içme suyu olarak kullanılması yönünde çalışmalar önem kazanmaktadır. İçme sularının dezenfeksiyonu amacıyla kimyasal kullanımı ilk olarak 1896 da ABD de başlamış ve o günden bugüne kullanılmaya devam etmektedir. Fakat 21. Yüzyılda halen içme sularının sterilizasyonunda klorlama yönteminin tercih edilmesine gerek olmayabilir. Bu tez çalışmasında atmosferik basınç plazmanın içme suyundaki bakterilerin dezenfeksiyonu için kullanılıp kullanılamayacağı araştırılmıştır. Atmosferik basınç plazma, korona deşarj yöntemi ile elde edilmiştir. 3 kV gerilim ile elde edilen plazma Escherichia coli (E.coli) çözeltisi üzerine uygulanmıştır. Although it is not possible to increase the water resources in the world, parallel to the increase of the world population, the need for clean water is constantly increasing. For this reason, studies that are focused on sterilization of unsuitable water for reuse as drinking water gain importance. The use of chemicals for the disinfection of drinking water was first started in the USA in 1896 and has been used since then. However, it may not be necessary to choose chlorination method for sterilization of drinking water in the 21st century. In this thesis, it was investigated whether atmospheric pressure plasma can be used for sterilization of bacteria in drinking water. Atmospheric pressure was obtained by plasma, corona discharge method. Plasma obtained with 3 kV voltage was applied on Escherichia coli (E.coli) solution. Application time is 2, 4 and 6 minutes.
