AMAÇ: Bu çalışmanın amacı iki farklı protetik alt yapı materyallerine bağlanan bir indirekt kompozit materyalin renk stabilitesini ve yüzey pürüzlülüğünü değerlendirmektir. GEREÇ-YÖNTEM: Disk şeklinde hazırlanan Co-Cr ve Ti (10x2 mm) alt yapı materyallerine Ceramage (Shofu, Almanya) indirekt kompozit 6x2mm boyutlarında olacak şekilde bağlandı. Her bir alt grupta 12 örnek olacak şekilde toplam 144 adet örnek hazırlandı. Örnekler farklı sürelerde distile su, çay, kahve, gastrik sıvıda bekletme ve fırçalama simülatörü ile termal siklus uygulamalarına tabi tutuldu. Örneklerin başlangıç ve uygulamalar sonrası ortalama yüzey pürüzlülüğü değerleri bir profilometre cihazı (SJ210 Surftest, Mitutoyo, Japonya) ile ölçüldü. Renk değişiklikleri spektrofotometre (Vita Easyshade, Zahnfabrick, Germany) ile değerlendirildi. Yaşlandırma sonrası örnek yüzeyleri SEM (FEI Quanta Feg 250, Hollanda) ile incelendi. Sonuçlar istatistiksel olarak varyans analizi ve Tukey testi ile analiz edildi. BULGULAR: En önemli renk değişikleri çayda ve kahvede bekletme sonucu görüldü ve 28. gün sonunda ΔE değerleri çayda CoCr+Ceramage (CoCrC) için 12,39, Ti+Ceramage (TiC) için 29,98; kahvede CoCrC için 14,06, TiC için 40,43 olarak ölçüldü. Başlangıç değerleri ile kıyaslandığında ΔE değerlerindeki değişimin istatistik olarak anlamlı (p<0,05) ve klinik olarak kabul edilemez (ΔE>3,7) olduğu bulundu. TiC grubu örneklerin çay ve kahvede bekletilme süreleri sonunda CoCrC grubu örneklerden daha fazla renk değişikliği gösterdiği saptandı (p<0,05). Fırçalama simülasyonu sonrası ortalama yüzey pürüzlülüğü değerlerinin CoCrC için 0,28µm'den 0,44µm'ye ve TiC için 0,23µm'den 0,41µm'ye yükseldiği ve bu değişimin istatistik olarak önemli olduğu bulundu (p<0,05). SONUÇ: Bu çalışmanın sınırları dahilinde Ceramage indirekt kompozitin, kahve ve çayda bekletme uygulamaları sonrasında klinik olarak kabul edilemez sınırlarda renginin değiştiği; fırçalama sonrası her iki grupta da örneklerin ortalama yüzey pürüzlülüğündeki artışın istatistik olarak önemli olduğu saptandı (p<0,05).

Evaluation of the Color Stability of Indirect Composites Applied on Different Prosthetic Substructure Materials OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the color stability and surface roughness of an indirect composite bonded to two different prosthetic substructure materials. MATERIALS-METHODS: Ceramage (Shofu, Germany) indirect composite (6x2 mm) was bonded to disc-shaped Co-Cr and Ti substructures (10x2 mm). In total 144 specimens were prepared as being 12 specimens in each subgroup. Specimens were subjected to storage in distilled water, tea, coffee, gastric juice, thermal cycling and brushing simulator. The initial and final mean surface roughness values of the specimens were measured using a profilometer (SJ210 Surftest, Mitutoyo, Japan). The color changes of specimens were evaluated using a spectrophotometer (Vita Easyshade, Zahnfabrick, Germany). After aging procedures the surfaces of the specimens were examined using SEM (FEI Quanta Feg 250, Holland). The results were statistically analyzed by variance analysis and Tukey test. RESULTS: Significant colour changes were detected after storage in tea and coffee and after 28 days, ΔE values were measured for CoCr+Ceramage (CoCrC) as 12.39 and for Ti+Ceramage (TiC) as 29.98 and for CoCrC as 14.06 and for TiC as 40.43, respectively. These changes in ΔE values were found to be statistically significant (p<0.05) and clinically unacceptable (ΔE>3.7). Comparing to CoCrC group, more significant colour changes were observed in TiC specimens after storage in tea and coffee solutions (p<0.05). Mean surface roughness values were increased from 0.28µm to 0.44µm for CoCrC group and from 0.23µm to 0.41µm for TiC group after toothbrushing and these differences were found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). CONCLUSION: Within the limitations of this study it was concluded that Ceramage indirect composite showed clinically unacceptable colour changes after storage in tea and coffee, and in both groups the increase in average surface roughness after simulated toothbrushing was found to be statistically significant.
