Bu çalışma kapsamında, basit geometrili cisimlerin neden olduğu doğal uçlaşma belirtilerinin yorumlanması için Balina Optimizasyon Algoritması (BOA) ve Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) yöntemlerinin ardışık kullanımını içeren bir melez ters çözüm yaklaşımı önerilmektedir. BOA, kambur balinaların kabarcık ağı avlanma stratejisinden esinlenen bir metasezgisel algoritmadır. LM algoritmasında, model parametre güncellemeleri, yinelemeli bir eşlenik türev algoritmasına dayanan bir dizey terslemesi ile elde edilmiştir. Model parametrelerine göre kısmi türevlerden oluşan Jacobian dizeyi, birinci dereceden merkezi sonlu farklar kullanılarak sayısal türev ile hesaplanmıştır. Elektrik dipol momenti, uçlaşma açısı, derinlik, biçim faktörü ve belirtinin orijinini içeren model parametrelerini kestirmek için yapay bir veri kümesi ve alan veri kümesi kullanılmıştır. Uygulamada, BOA'nın kullanıcı tanımlı kontrol parametrelerinin çözüm üzerindeki etkileri detaylı olarak araştırılmıştır. Ayrıca, algoritmanın genel olarak keşif aşamasında yetersiz görülen performansı nedeniyle bir Laplace Çaprazlaması kullanan farklı bir versiyonu da (LXBOA) irdelenmiştir. Bu tez çalışması kapsamında gerçekleştirilen uygulamalar önerilen ardışık melez yaklaşımın (BOA + LM) etkinliğini göstermiştir. Elde edilen bulgular ışığında, bu yaklaşımın uygulamalı jeofiziğin diğer görece küçük boyutlu optimizasyon problemleri üzerinde de uygulanabileceği ve benzer olarak verimli sonuçların elde edilebileceği öngörülmüştür. This study proposes a hybrid inversion scheme including the sequential use of whale optimization algorithm (WOA) and Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) methods for interpretation of self-potential anomalies caused by simple-geometry bodies. The WOA is a novel metaheuristic algorithm inspired by the bubble-net hunting strategy of humpback whales. In the LM algorithm, the model parameter updates were achieved by a matrix inversion based on an iterative conjugate gradient algorithm. The Jacobian matrix consisting of the partial derivatives with respect to the model parameters was calculated by a numerical differentiation via first-order central finite differences. A synthetic data set was used to estimate model parameters including the electric dipole moment, polarization angle, depth, shape factor and origin of the anomaly. Since quite satisfactory results were obtained by the sequential hybrid approach which exploits the advantages of WOA and LM to determine the global solution, the proposed scheme can be considered as an effective alternative tool for inverse geophysical problems. In the application, the effects of user-defined control parameters of WOA on the solution have been investigated in detail. Besides, a different version of the algorithm that uses a Laplace Crossover (LXWOA) has been explored due to its poor performance in the exploration stage. The applications performed within the scope of this thesis study showed the effectiveness of the proposed sequential hybrid approach (WOA + LM). In light of the findings obtained, it is predicted that this approach can be applied to other relatively small-dimension optimization problems of applied geophysics and similarly efficient results can be obtained.
