Bu tez çalışmasında bıldırcın (Coturnix coturnix japonica) proventrikulus ve gizzardları materyal olarak kullanıldı. Örneklerden 5-6 mikro metre kalınlığında alınan kesitlere lektin immünohistokimya yöntemi uygulandı. Proventrikulusun bezlerinde N-acetyl β-D glucosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N- acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) (siyalik asit) ve α-D-Man; α-D-Glc rezidülerine sahip glikokonjugatların bulunduğu görülmüştür. Lamina epitelyaliste en yoğun N-acetyl β-D glucosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N- acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) (siyalik asit), eritrositlerde A-L-Fukoz, tunika muskularis ve tunika serozada ise N-acetyl β-D glucosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N- acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) (siyalik asit) ve α-D-Man; α-D-Glc rezidülerine sahip glikokonjugatların bulunduğu görülmüştür. Endotelde α-D-Man; α-D-Glc rezidülerine sahip glikokonjugatların bulunduğu görülmüştür. Bağ dokusu ipliklerinde yoğunluk N-acetyl β-D glucosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N- acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) (siyalik asit) ve A-L-Fukoz rezidülerine sahip glikokonjugatların bulunduğu görülmüştür. Gizzard bezlerinde N-acetyl β-D glucosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N- acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) (siyalik asit) ve A-L-Fukoz rezidülerine sahip glikokonjugatların yoğun olarak bulunduğu görülmüştür. Lamina epitelyalis, bağ doku iplikleri ve endotelde N-acetyl β-D glucosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N- acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) (siyalik asit) rezidülerine sahip glikokonjugatların yoğun olarak bulunduğu görülmüştür. Tunika muskulariste A-L-Fukoz rezidülerine sahip glikokonjugatların bulunduğu görülmüştür. Keratin tabaksında ise N-acetyl β-D glucosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N- acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) (siyalik asit) ve α-D-Man; α-D-Glc rezidülerine sahip glikokonjugatların yoğun olarak bulunduğu görülmüştür. Mide mukozalarındaki glikokonjugatların dağılımlarının ve yoğunluklarının bölgeler ve türler arasında farklılık gösterdiği hayvanların beslendiği yemlerin içerisinde ki şeker oranlarına göre lektinlerle verdiği reaksiyonların değişiklik gösterebildiği kanısına varılmıştır. Kanser teşhislerinde, lektin toleransının belirlenmesinde ve literatürde Coturnix coturnix japonica'nın mide mukozasında UEA-I, ConA ve WGA lektinlerine ait bir çalışma bulunmaması sebebiyle katkıda bulunulacağı kanısına varılmıştır. In this thesis study, quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) proventrikulus and gizzards were used as material. Lectin immunohistochemistry method was applied to the sections taken 5-6 micro meters thick from the samples. Glucoconjugates with N-acetyl β-D glucosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N- acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) (sialic acid) and α-D-Man, α-D-Glc residues were found intensively in the glands of the proventriculus. The most dense N-acetyl β-D glucosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) (sialic acid) in lamina epithelialis, N-acetyl β-D glucosamine in erythrocytes, in tunica muscularis and tunica serosa (β-D-GlcNac), N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) (sialic acid), α-D-Man and α-D-Glc glucoconjugates residues intensively were found. In the endothelium glucoconjugates with α-D-Man and α-D-Glc residues were found intensively. Glycoconjugates with density N-acetyl β-D glucosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N- acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) and A-L-Fucose residues were found intensively in connective tissue fibers. Glycoconjugates with N-acetyl β-D glycosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) and A-L-Fucose residues were found extensively in the gizzard glands. Glycoconjugates with N-acetyl β-D glucosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) (sialic acid) residues were found intensively in lamina epithelialis, connective tissue fibers and endothelium. Glycoconjugates with A-L-Fucose residues were found in the tunica muscularis. In the keratin layer, N-acetyl β-D glycosamine (β-D-GlcNac), N-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuNac) (sialic acid), α-D-Man, α-D-Glc glycoconjugates with residues were found intensively. It was concluded that the reactions with lectins can vary according to the sugar content in the feeding of animals where the distribution and density of the glucoconjugates in the gastric mucosa have differens between regions and species. It has been concluded that in cancer diagnoses, in determining lectin tolerance and in the literature, Coturnix coturnix japonica does not have a study of UEA-I, ConA and WGA lectins in the gastric mucosa.
