Muhammed b. Vaddâh el-Kurtubî (ö. 287/900), Endülüs'te hadisin gelişim dönemindeki en önemli simalardan birisidir. Endülüs'teki ilk eğitimini tamamladıktan sonra zâhid ve âbidlerle görüşerek, zühd hakkındaki rivâyetleri toplamak üzere Doğu İslâm ülkelerine ilk rihlesini gerçekleştirmiştir. Bu kısa süreli rihlesinden sonra Endülüs'e dönen İbn Vaddâh, ilk seyahati esnasında hadis ilmine büyük bir ilgi duyması sebebiyle, on seneden fazla sürecek olan ikinci rihlesine sadece hadis öğrenme talebiyle çıkmıştır. Kayrevân, Mısır, Medine, Kûfe, Basra, Bağdat, Dımaşk, Kudüs Askalân ve Horasan gibi geniş bir coğrafyadaki ilim merkezlerine yaptığı rihleler neticesinde yüz yetmiş beş hocadan hadis rivâyet etmiştir. Endülüs'e dönerken bu ilmî birikiminin yanında birçok hadis külliyatını da beraberinde getirmiş, böylelikle Doğu İslâm Dünyası'nın hadis birikiminin Endülüs'e taşınmasında önemli bir rol oynamıştır. İbn Vaddâh, ikinci rihlesinden sonra Kurtuba'da ders halkaları tesis edip Endülüs'te sistematik hadis öğretimini başlatmıştır. Ömrünün sonuna kadar samimiyetle ilmini neşretmiş aralarında Kâsım b. Asbağ, İbn Lübâbe, İbnü'l-Cebbâb, İbn Abdirabbih, İbn Meserre gibi isimlerin de bulunduğu birçok talebe yetiştirmiştir. İbn Vaddâh, bu çalışmaları ile Endülüs'ün bir hadis merkezi haline gelmesine zemin hazırlamıştır. İki bölümden oluşan bu tezin ilk bölümünde önce Endülüs tarihi hakkında bilgiler verilmiş daha sonra İbn Vaddâh'ın hayatı, yaşadığı dönem, ilmî şahsiyeti ve Endülüs hadis ilmindeki yeri incelenmiştir. İkinci bölümde ise, İbn Vaddâh'a ait olan ve İslâmî literatür içerisinde bid'atlar konusundaki ilk müstakil çalışma olarak bilinen, kendisinden sonra telif edilen birçok esere kaynaklık eden, nelerin bid'at olduğu, ilk bid'atların nasıl ortaya çıktığı, sünnete sarılıp bid'atlardan sakınmanın ehemmiyeti, bid'atların İslâmiyet'e nasıl zarar verdiği gibi hususları merfû, mevkûf ve maktû rivâyetler ışığında ele alan "Kitâbü'l-Bida' ve'n-Nehyü anhâ" isimli eseri, hadis ilimleri açısından tahlil edilmiştir. Muhammad b. Waddah al-Qurtubi (died in 287/900), was one of the most important figure during the development of hadith's knowledges in Andalusia. After he finished his primary education in Andalusia, he met with many zahid and abid (peoples of ascendant and peity) then he went out to his first journey of knowledge to fulfill his mission of gathering the narratives about zuhd (ascent) at Eastern Islamic countries. After this short journey he returned to Andaulisa and felt a huge interest in hadith, thus started to went out to his 10 years long of the second journey just to learn hadith. As the results of visiting knowledge centers around larger geography such as Kairouan, Egypt, Madina, Kufa, Basra, Baghdad, Damascus, Al-Quds Jerusalem, and Khorasan, he succeeded to narrated hadith from hundred and seventy five teachers. While returning to Andalusia, he also brought many Hadith books with him, and he had played an important role in bringing hadith knowledge into Andalusia from Eastern Islamic countries. Ibn Waddah, after returning from his second journey, started to gives lecturers thus establishing a systematic Hadith education system in Qurtuba. He taught this knowledge with full compassion until his last breath. Along the side, he succeeded to produced many students named such as Qasim b. Asbagh, Ibn Lubaba, Ibn Jabbab, Ibn Abdirabbih, and Ibn Masarra. Ibn Waddah with his efforts he had succeeded to be the key role in establishing Hadith education center in Andalusia. This thesis will cover two-part of separate studies; first about the history of Andalusia, and the life of Ibn Waddah, his life's period, his intellectual background and his importance in hadith knowledge in Andalusia. Secondly, is about the analysis of Ibn Waddah work named as "Kitabul Bida' wa Nahy anha" which was among the first published work about bid'a in Islamic literature, and had became an important source for many books, that studied about what is bid'a, how was the first bid'a emerged, the importance of practicing the sunnah and avoiding the bid'a, what are bid'as damages toward Islam and its nature according to narrations such as marfu', mawquf and maqtu. By studying through this points, Ibn Waddah's principals and views toward bid'a and sunnah will be determined and examine its hadith's expertise.
