Tarihin araştırılmasında çok önemli yere sahip olan sözlü kaynakların beslendiği en önemli unsur insandır. İnsan hayatında da hem kendini hem de içinde bulunduğu toplumu ilgilendiren çok önemli olgular vardır. Bunların başında yaşamın başlangıcı olan doğum ve gizemini her zaman diri tutan, bazı toplumlara göre yaşamın sonu, bazı toplumlara göre başka alemlere açılan bir kapı olarak görülen ölümdür. Birlik ve beraberliğin en yoğun olarak yaşandığı, fert ve toplumların örf ve âdetlerinin, inançlarının, sosyal hayatlarının ve kültürlerinin etkisi ile oluşan, kutlanan, evlilik ve bayram merasimleri yine bu olgular arasındadır. Tezimizde bu dört olgu Türk efsane, destan ve hikâyelerinden başta Oğuz Kağan Destanı ve Dede Korkut Hikâyeleri olmak üzere tarih açısından ele alınmıştır. Aynı zamanda doğum, ölüm, evlilik ve bayram merasimlerindeki uygulama, gelenek, görenek gibi birçok Türk kültürüne has özellikler tespit edilmiştir. Giriş bölümünde İslam öncesi Türk Devletleri'nin siyasi tarihleri kısaca ele alınılmıştır. İlk bölümde efsane, destan ve hikâye kavramları özetlenmiş sonrasında İslam öncesi Türk tarihinin efsane ve destanlarına değinilmiştir. İkinci bölümde Oğuz Kağan Destanı ve Dede Korkut Hikâyeleri detaylı bir şekilde işlenmiştir. Üçüncü ve son bölümde ise Türk kültürünün çok önemli unsurları arasında sayabileceğimiz doğum, ölüm, evlilik ve bayram konuları Oğuz Kağan Destanı ve Dede Korkut Hikâyelerine göre ele alınmıştır. Türk kültürü hakkında çok önemli bilgiler elde etmemizi sağlayan bu iki destanın, Türk toplumu içerisinde ne kadar önemli bir yer tuttuğunu, günümüzde dahi zaman zaman geçerliliğini koruyan örf ve adetlerinin nasıl ortaya çıktığını ve kökeninin nereye dayandığı ile ilgili bize bilgi vermektedir. The most important element in which oral sources feed in the study of history, is human. There are also very important facts in human life that concern both himself and the society in which he is located. Birth, which is the beginning of life at the beginning of them, and death, which always keeps its mystery alive, is the end of life according to some societies, and death, which according to some societies is seen as a door to other realms. Marriage and feast ceremonies, which are celebrated with the influence of Customs and customs, beliefs, social lives and cultures of members and societies, where unity and togetherness are most intense, are again among these phenomena. In our thesis, these four facts are discussed from the point of view of history, especially the Oguz Kagan Saga and the Dede Korkut stories from Turkish legends, epics and stories. At the same time, many characteristics unique to Turkish culture have been identified, such as practice, tradition, custom in birth, death, marriage and holiday ceremonies. In the introduction, the political history of pre-Islamic Turkish States is briefly discussed. In the first chapter, the concepts of legend, saga and story are summarized and then the legends and epics of pre-Islamic Turkish history are mentioned. In the second part, The Epic of Oguz Kagan and the stories of Dede Korkut are covered in detail. In the third and final chapter, the issues of birth, death, marriage and feast, which we can count among the very important elements of Turkish culture, are discussed according to the stories of Oguz Kagan Saga and Dede Korkut. It gives us information about the importance of these two epics, which enable us to obtain very important information about Turkish culture, how they have an important place in Turkish society, how the traditions and customs that are still valid from time to time emerged and where their origin is based.
