Bu tez çalışmasında, edebiyat-mimarlık ilişkisine yapılan yaklaşım, bir ütopya olan ve yazar B. F. Skinner tarafından kaleme alınan "Walden Two" romanı ile Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitecture (RBTA) yapısı "Walden 7" arasındaki bağlantının çevre psikolojisi kavramlarından kişisel alan ve mahremiyet, alansallık, ev ve yerleşim çevreleri, yere bağlılık ve yer kimliği kavramlarıyla derinlemesine analiz edilmesi ile gözler önüne serilmiştir. Aynı zamanda bu çalışma ütopyaların, mimari tasarımlar için referans oluşturup oluşturmadığının görülebilmesini sağlamak için yapılmıştır. Bunun sonucunda, bir ütopya olan Walden Two romanının, gerçek bir yapıda hayat bulabildiği görülmüştür. Sadece yapının fiziksel özellikleri açısından değil, barındırdığı duygular ve yaşam biçimlerine sağladığı katkılar ile de, her iki yapıda ortak birçok duruma tanıklık edilmiştir. Bu katkıları çevre psikolojisi kavramları ile açıkladığımızda da, özellikle çalışmada yer verilen kavramların bu çalışma için uygun birer kaynak olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Bu gözlemler, roman içerisinden seçilen metinlerin ve mimarın tasarım yaklaşımına dair dile getirdiği anlatımların analizinin yapılması ile sağlanmıştır. Aynı zamanda, bu analiz sonucunda ortaya çıkarılmış mekânın görseline de yer verilmiştir. Böylelikle; gerek insanı ve toplumu daha iyi tanımak, gerekse bunların tasarıma yönelik mekânla olan ilişkilerinin incelenmesinde, sözcüklerin olanaklarının çizgilerin olanaklarından daha fazla olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu çalışmada konu edinilen Skinner'ın Walden Two romanı ve bundan esinlenilerek oluşturulmuş Walden 7 yapısı da bu anlamda ilginç bir örnek oluşturmaktadır. In this thesis, the approach made to the literature-architecture relationship is that the connection between the utopia novel "Walden Two" written by the author B. F. Skinner and the Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitecture (RBTA) structure "Walden 7" is one of the environmental psychology concepts of personal space and privacy, spatiality, home and residential environments, place attachment and place identity concepts are revealed through an in-depth analysis. At the same time, this study was carried out to see whether utopias constitute a reference for architectural designs or not. As a result, it has been seen that the novel Walden Two, which is a utopia, can come to life in a real structure. Not only in terms of the physical features of the building, but also in terms of the emotions it contains and the contributions it provides to the lifestyles, many common situations have been witnessed in both buildings. When we explain these contributions with environmental psychology concepts, it has been observed that the concepts included in the study are suitable sources for this study. These observations were provided by analyzing the texts selected from the novel and the narratives of the architect about the design approach. At the same time, the visual of the space, which was revealed as a result of this analysis, is also included. Thus; It has been concluded that the possibilities of words are more than the possibilities of lines, both in getting to know people and society better, and in examining their relationship with design-oriented space. Skinner's novel Walden Two, which is the subject of this study, and the Walden 7 structure inspired by it constitute an interesting example in this sense.
