Bu yaşam koşulları ve ekonomik refahtan mahrum kalmış ülkelerin yönetici ve aydınları bu derin uçurumu gidermek için ekonomik büyüme ve kalkınmayı ideal edinmişlerdir. İktisat tarihi verileri göstermiştir ki ekonomik büyümenin ve kalkınmanın motor gücü girişimcilik olgusu ve girişimci kişiliklerdir. Girişimcilik; doğal kaynak, sermaye, işgücü, teknolojiden faydalanarak; mal, hizmet ve bilgi üretme sürecidir. Girişimci ise ekonomik dünyada talepleri fırsatçı bir yaklaşımla görerek, risk alıp piyasaya mal ve hizmet arz eden kişilerdir. Tarihte kamusal hayatta ve dini yaşamda karşılık bulan liderlik olgusu, günümüzün çetin rekabet piyasasında sürdürülebilir rekabet üstünlüğü sağlamaya çalışan iş hayatında da sıklıkla ihtiyaç duyulan bir pozisyon bir haline gelmiştir. Küresel rekabette ayakta kalmak ekonomik pastadan istediği payı almak için yarışan şirketler, işleri doğru yapan yöneticiler yerine doğru işi yapan liderlere ihtiyaç duymaktadırlar. Girişim, girişimci ve liderlik kavramlarının bir sentezi olarak modern liderlik yaklaşımları içerisinde modellenen girişimci liderlik; hem müteşebbisi olduğu işletme ve paydaşları hem de içinde bulunduğu sosyal çevre ve ülke için etkileyici ve ilham verici yaratıcı yenilikler üreten faaliyetler gerçekleştirmektir. Girişimci liderler ise; bu faaliyetleri gerçekleştirerek birden fazla toplumsal liderlik rolünü ifa eden aktörlerdir. İSO verilerine göre Isparta coğrafyasında, Türkiye'nin en büyük ilk beş yüz işletmesi listesine giren, dünyada beş kıtadan yetmiş sekiz ülkeye ihracat yaparak ülke ekonomisine milyonlarca dolarlık katma değer sağlayan ORMA ve GÖLTAŞ adlı iki şirketi kuran, Isparta ve yöresinde kırk yılı aşkın bir süre siyasal liderlik yaparak sayısız kamu hizmetini kazandıran ve onlarca sosyal sorumluluk projesini gerçekleştiren Şevket Demirel, yeniliklere açık vizyonu, memleket ve Isparta sevdalısı misyoner kişiliği, iş bitiriciliği, pratik zekâsı ve sosyal sorumluluk faaliyetleriyle gerçek bir girişimci lider profilini hayata geçirmiş örnek bir kişiliktir. After the industrial revolution, incumbent social and economic balance, which had lasted for thousand years, was deteriorated, many traditional divisions of labour lost their functionalities as a result of serial and mass production, and rambling gaps among societies were emerged in terms of living standards. The administrators and intelligentsia of countries which are devoid of these better living standards and economic welfare have adopted economic growth and development as an ideal to close the deep gaps in question. Data of economic history indicates that thrust forces behind economic growth and development are the phenomena of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship personalities. Entrepreneurship is a process of producing goods, services and information with inputs of raw material, capital, labour and technology. On the other hand, entrepreneurs are people who take risks and supply goods and services to the markets with an opportunist view of demands in economic field. While leadership have been a crucial phenomenon in public and religious life in the history, it has become a position which is often needed in the business world that strives to get sustainable competitive advantage in the markets where fierce competition is prevalent. Companies need leaders who do right things instead of managers who do things right in order to survive in global competition and get their shares from the market. Entrepreneurial leadership, which is modelled on the approaches of modern leadership as a synthesis of the concepts of enterprise, entrepreneur and leadership, covers activities that produce impressive and inspiring innovations for both its own businesses and its stakeholders, and its country and social environment. As to entrepreneurial leaders, they are the actors who do these activities by playing more than one social leadership role at the same time. Şevket Demirel, who founded two companies in Isparta named ORMA and GÖLTAŞ which were among the top 500 industrial enterprises list according to Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) and added value to Turkish economy by exporting products to seventy-eight countries in five continents, conduced to bring countless public services and implemented dozens of social responsibility projects in Isparta and its surrounding region for more than forty years by performing political leadership, is an exemplary personality who actualised real entrepreneurial leader profile with his vision open to innovation, missionary personality with love of his country and Isparta, practicality, smartness and social responsibility projects.
