Özel eğitime gereksinim duyan öğrenciler genel eğitim sınıflarında eğitim görebilmektedirler. Bu öğrenciler için genel eğitim sınıflarında gerçekleştirilen eğitim, kaynaştırma/bütünleştirme yoluyla eğitim kapsamında uygulanmaktadır. Kaynaştırma eğitimine tabi olan öğrenciler akranları ile aynı sınıfta eğitim ve öğretimine devam edebilmektedirler. Kaynaştırma öğrencilerinin bireysel farklılıkları göz önüne alındığında eğitimleri ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda hazırlanan Bireyselleştirilmiş Eğitim Programı (BEP) ile gerçekleştirilmektedir. Eğitim programlarının düzenlemelerini yaptıkları ve uygulanmasını sağladıkları için öğretmenlerin özel eğitim ile ilgili algılarının ortaya çıkarılması kaynaştırma eğitimin başarıya ulaşması açısından önemli görülmektedir. Bu doğrultuda yapılacak çalışmada fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin özel eğitim kavramlarına yönelik algılarının metaforlar aracılığıyla ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olgubilim (fenomenoloji) deseni benimsenerek gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma grubu amaçlı örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenmiş ve çalışma araştırmaya gönüllü katılım sağlayan 234 fen bilimleri öğretmeni ile yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak yarı yapılandırılmış metafor formu kullanılmıştır. Metafor formunda öğretmenlerin algılarını belirlemek amacıyla "Kaynaştırma eğitimi … gibidir. Çünkü …", "Kaynaştırma öğrencisi … gibidir. Çünkü …", "Bireyselleştirilmiş eğitim programı (BEP) … gibidir. Çünkü …", "BEP hazırlamak … gibidir. Çünkü …", "BEP uygulamak … gibidir. Çünkü …", "Kaynaştırma öğrencilerine laboratuvar uygulamaları yapmak … gibidir. Çünkü …" ve "Kaynaştırma öğrencilerini değerlendirmek … gibidir. Çünkü …" cümleleri yer almaktadır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Analize dahil edilmeyecek veriler elenerek, kalan nitelikli verilerden metaforlar ve gerekçeleri arasındaki anlamlar dikkate alınarak kodlar oluşturulmuştur. Bir araya gelebilecek kodlar dikkate alınarak kategoriler oluşturulmuştur. Kodlar ve kategoriler uzman görüşüne sunularak çalışmanın güvenirlik katsayısı .89 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuçları genel olarak değerlendirildiğinde; öğretmenlerin kaynaştırma eğitiminin önemini kavradıkları ancak güçlüklerle de karşılaştıkları; kaynaştırma öğrencilerine ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda ilgi ve önem gösterildiğinde bu öğrencilerin gelişebilen bireyler olarak algılandığı; BEP'in öneminin farkında olunduğu ancak BEP'lerin göz ardı edilebildiği; BEP hazırlama sürecinin zor olarak algılandığı ve hazırlanması için eğitim alınmasının gerekli görüldüğü; BEP uygulamanın sınıf içinde öğrenciyle özel ilgilenilmesinin zor olması ve zaman yetersizliğinden zor olarak algılandığı, BEP'lerin hazırlansa da uygulamaya geçilmediği için uygulamanın formalite algılandığı; kaynaştırma öğrencilerine laboratuvar uygulamaları yapmanın öğrenciler için eğlenceli olduğu, etkili ve kalıcı öğrenmeler sağladığı; kaynaştırma öğrencilerini değerlendirmenin öğretmene ve öğrenciye olumlu anlamda geri bildirim sağladığı ancak bazı öğretmenlerin kaynaştırma öğrencilerinin değerlendirilmesini formalite ve zor olarak algıladığı sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. Students with special needs can study in general education classes. The education given in general education classes for these students is implemented within the scope of inclusive/integration education. Students with special needs continue education and training in the same class as their peers. Inclusive education is carried out with the Individualized Education Program (IEP), which is prepared in line with the educational needs of the students. In order to achieve success in inclusive education, it is important to reveal the perceptions about special education of teachers who prepare and apply IEP. This study aims to reveal science teachers' perceptions of special education concepts through metaphors. The study was carried out with phenomenology, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group was determined by the purposeful sampling method, and the study was carried out with 234 science teachers who participated voluntarily. A semi-structured metaphor form was used to collect data from the participants. In the metaphor form, in order to determine the perceptions of teachers, "Inclusive education is like …. Because …", "Inclusive student is like …. Because …", "Individualized education program (IEP) is like …. Because …" is like "Preparing an IEP …. Because …", "Practicing an IEP is like …. Because …", "Making laboratory applications for mainstreaming students is like …. Because …" and "Assessing inclusive students is like …. Because …" sentences are included. The data obtained through the form were analyzed by the content analysis method. Qualified data included in the analysis were examined, the meanings between the metaphors and their reasons were examined, and codes were created accordingly. Categories were created by taking into account the codes that will create integrity. Codes and categories were submitted to expert opinion, and the reliability coefficient of the study was calculated as .89. When the results of the study were evaluated; teachers understood the importance of inclusive education but also faced difficulties; when inclusive students are given attention and importance in line with their needs, these students are perceived as individuals who can improve; the importance of IEPs is recognized, but IEPs can be ignored; the process of preparing the IEP was perceived as difficult, and training was deemed necessary for its preparation; IEP application is perceived as difficult due to lack of time and difficult to deal with students in the classroom. It is fun to make laboratory applications for inclusive students. It provides effective and permanent learning; it has been concluded that the evaluation of inclusive students provides positive feedback to the teacher and the student, but some teachers perceive the assessment of inclusive students as a formality and difficult.
