Renk ayrımcılığı toplumsal sorunların başında gelmekle birlikte insanoğlunun vebası olarak nitelendirilmektedir. Bu durum coğrafi keşifler ile başlamış ve tarihsel süreç içerisinde kolonileşme formuna bağlı hız kazanarak, II. Dünya Savaşı‟na kadar süregelmiştir. Savaş sonrası ağır tahribat kolonyal düzen içerisinde dönüşümü gerekli kılmıştır. Böylelikle coğrafyaya daha etkin hüküm etme anlayışı postkolonyal format ile varoluş göstererek değişen dünya düzeni içerisinde farklı boyutlara eğrilmiştir. Postkolonyal sistem içerisinde gerçekleşen eğrilme, toplumsal ve kültürel arenada yarattığı algı ile sanatsal faaliyetler üzerinden çarpıcı söylemler geliştirmiştir. Bu faaliyetler içerisinde ön plana çıkan sinema ise ideolojik fikirlerin perdeye yansıtılma hususunda etkin bir araç olarak önemli bir payı üstlenmiştir. Sinema çatısı altında Afro-Amerikalılar meselesini örüntüleme minvaliyle gündem yaratan Mor Yıllar, Mississipi Yanıyor, Yeşil Yol, Muhteşem Münazaracılar, Çitler filmlerinin renkçilik teması postkolonyal konseptle değerlendirilmiştir. Örneklem alınan filmlerde işlenen renk ayrımcılığına yönelik göstergelerin açık manasından ziyade arka planda yatan mesajların açığa çıkarılması için de semiyotik analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Sözgelimi dekolonizasyon süreciyle sömürgeciliğin bittiği kanısı, postkolonyal argümanlar ile günümüzde halen devam ettirilmekte ve beyaz adama yüklenen ulvi sıfatlar filmlerin aktarılma esnasında bariz bir şekilde görülmektedir. Color discrimination is at the forefront of social problems, but it is described as the plague of mankind. This situation started with geographical discoveries and gained momentum depending on the form of colonization in the historical process. It lasted until World War II. The heavy destruction after the war necessitated the transformation in the colonial order. Thus, the understanding of governing the geography more effectively has been skewed to different dimensions in the changing world order by showing existence with a postcolonial format. The warping that took place in the postcolonial system has developed striking discourses through artistic activities with the perception it created in the social and cultural arena. Cinema, which has come to the fore among these activities, has undertaken an important role as an effective tool in reflecting ideological ideas on the screen. The colorism theme of the films The Purple Years, The Mississippi Burns, The Green Mile, The Magnificent Debaters, The Fences, which set the agenda with the pattern of patterning the issue of African-Americans under the roof of cinema, were evaluated with a postcolonial concept. Semiotic analysis method was also used to reveal the messages lying in the background rather than the explicit meaning of the indicators for color discrimination in the sampled films. For example, the opinion that colonialism ended with the decolonization process is still maintained today with postcolonial arguments and the lofty adjectives attributed to the white man are clearly seen during the transfer of the films.
