Türkiye'de bankacılık sektörü; niteliklerine ve tabi oldukları hükümlere göre özel bankalar ve kamu bankaları olarak iki gruba ayrılmaktadır. Türkiye'de bankacılık sektörünün aktif büyüklüğü ve yarattığı istihdam açısından ülke ekonomisinin gelişmesinde önemli bir yeri bulunmaktadır. Bankacılık sektöründe yaşanan krizlerin sonucunda alınan önlemlerin, sektörde uygulanan yeni yasal düzenlemelerin uluslararası standartlara ulaştırılması için çalışmalar gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bankacılık sektöründe performans yönetimi önemlidir. Teknolojik faaliyetlerin gelişmesi bankacılık sektörünü olumlu etkilemiştir. Sektörde artan rekabet gücü, sürekli değişen pazar payları, çeşitlenen ürün ve hizmetin müşteriye sunulmasındaki hızın, esnekliğin, bankaların personellerinden iş gücünde yüksek kalite beklentilerinin artması, maliyetlerin düşürülmesi vb. unsurların bankaların finans sektöründe başarılı olabilmeleri için kaliteli ve yüksek performans ile çalışmaları gerekmektedir. Bu nedenle üretim ve hizmet sektörünün performansının yükseltilmesi için çalışanların ve kurumların performanslarının ölçülmesine büyük önem verilmektedir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye'deki 81 ilde bulunan kamu, mevduat, katılım, yabancı ve yerli özel bankaların her biri için, diğer mevduat, altın mevduatı, nakdi kredi, gayri nakdi kredi gibi değişkenlere ilişkin 2021 yılına ait veriler kullanılarak kümeleme analizi yapılmıştır. İlk olarak her bir değişkenin Entropi yöntemi ile ağırlıkları belirlenmiş, ardından bu ağırlıklar illerin bankacılık faaliyet verilerine yansıtılarak 81 il altı kümeye ayrılmıştır. Değişkenlerin ağırlık değerleri birbirine çok yakın olmasına rağmen bazı iller diğer illerden ayrılarak tek başına küme oluşturmuştur. Ayrıca küme sayılarının kriter ağırlıkları şehirlerin ekonomik kalkınma yapıları, ticari faaliyetleri, eğitim, kültür, askeri ve idari şehir olma özellikleri ile banka müşterilerinin demografik özelliklerinin de kümelerin oluşumunda etkili olduğu düşünülmektedir. The banking sector in Turkey is divided into two groups private banks and public banks according to their qualifications and the provisions they are subject to. In Turkey the banking sector has an important place in the development of the country's economy in terms of the size of its assets and the employment it creates. Efforts were made to bring the measures taken as a result of the crises in the banking sector and the new legal regulations implemented in the sector to international standards. Performance management is important in the banking sector. The development of technological activities has positively affected the banking sector. Increasing competitiveness in the sector, constantly changing market shares, the speed and flexibility of offering diversified products and services to customers, the increase in high-quality expectations from the personnel of the banks in the workforce, the reduction of costs, etc. in order for banks to be successful in the financial sector, they need to work with high quality and high performance. Therefore, there is deep care about the performance measurement of employees and institutions in order to increase the performance of the production and service sectors. In this study, a cluster analysis was carried out for each of the public, deposit, participation, foreign, and domestic private banks in 81 provinces in Turkey, with using data from 2021 on variables such as other deposits, gold deposits, cash loans, and non-cash loans. At first, the weights of each variable were determined by the Entropy method, these weights were reflected in the banking activity data of the provinces, and then 81 provinces were divided into six clusters. Although the weight values of the variables are very close to each other, some provinces were separated from other provinces and formed a single cluster. In addition, it is thought that the criteria weights of the number of clusters, the economic development structures of the cities, commercial activities, educational, cultural, military, and administrative characteristics of the cities, and the demographic characteristics of the bank customers are also effective in the formation of the clusters.
