Çeşitli sayıda molekül içeren kümeler genellikle ya hidrojen bağı ile veya zayıf Van der waals etkileşimleri ile bağlanırlar. İkiden fazla molekül içeren bu kümelerlerin bir özelliği, etkileşim enerjisine katkıda bulunan kooperatif etkisidir. Bu tür etki yalnızca enerjiyi artırmakla kalmaz aynı zamanda kümenin dipol momentini ve titreşim frekanslarını değiştirir. Kooperatif etki özellikle hidrojen bağlı molekül kümelerinin önemli bir özelliğidir. Metanol kümeleri kooperatif etkisinin en çok çalışıldığı sistemlerdir. Genellikle oksijen ve kükürdün bir çok durumda benzer özellikler gösterdiği söylenir. Bununla birlikte, literatürde, kükürt içeren kümelere karşın oksijen içeren kümelerin H-bağlanmasının benzer olup olmadığı konusunda bir karmaşıklık vardır. Bu çalışmada HCl ve CH3SH' ün trimerlerinin kooperatif etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu nedenle (HCl)n...(CH3SH)m, (n, m= 1, 2) kümeleri DFT seviyesinde B3LYP ve MP2 seviyesinde aug-cc-pvdz ve aug-cc-pvtz basis setleri kullanılarak hesaplanmıştır. Bu çalışmadaki sonuçlar literatürdeki (HCl)n...(CH3OH)m, n, m= 1, 2 sonuçları ile karşılaştırılmıştır ve kükürt içeren molekül kümlerinin Oksijen içeren molekül kümeleri gibi hidrojen bağı oluşturduğuna dair bir genel sonuca varılmıştır. Molecular clusters which are included a number of various molecules are generally bounded either by hydrogen bond or by weak Van der waals interactions. One of the salient features of these clusters which includes more than two molecules is cooperativity effect which contributes to interaction energy. This form of effect not only rise the energy, but also change the dipole moments and vibration frequencies of the clusters. The cooperativity effect is particularly important property of hydrogen bonded molecular clusters. Methanol is the most studied systems on the cooperativity effect. It is customory to say that sulfur and oxygen are similar with respect to many cases. However, in the literature, there is a contrast about H-bonding behaviour of S-containing clusters versus O-containing clusters. In this study, the cooperativity effect of HCl and CH3SH trimers have been examined. Therefore, the clusters of (HCl)n...(CH3SH)m, n, m= 1, 2 were calculated at DFT/B3LYP and MP2 level with aug-cc-pvdz basis set. The results of this study are compared to that of (HCl)n...(CH3OH)m, n, m= 1, 2 obtained from literature and reached a general conclusion that S-containing clusters formed hydrogen bond like O-containing clusters.
