Bazı bitkilerin dinlenme döneminin, vejetatif döneminin bitişi ile başladığı ve yeni vejetasyon başlangıcına kadar sürdüğü kabul edilmektedir. Bazı bitkilerin dinlenme dönemi sonunda soğuklama ihtiyacının yeteri kadar karşılanması durumunda istikrarlı olarak vejetatif ve generatif gelişmelerinin olduğu varsayılmaktadır. Soğuklama süresinde 0 ile 7,2 °C arasında geçen saatlik sürelerin toplamı, soğuklama biriminde ise saatlik periyotlarda belirli sıcaklık aralıklarına ait sabit değerlerin toplamı kullanılarak hesaplanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Meteoroloji Genel Müdürlüğü (MGM)'nden Türkiye'de 338 iklim istasyonundan alınan uzun yıllar saatlik ortalama sıcaklık verileri kullanılarak soğuklama süresi ve bazı soğuklama birimleri hesaplanmıştır. Soğuklama değerleri istasyonlar bazında 10'ar günlük 36 dönem olarak hesaplanmıştır. Soğuklama süresi ve soğuklama birimi değerleri kullanılarak potansiyel tahmin haritaları (enterpolasyon) hazırlanmıştır. Bu sayede aynı soğuklama potansiyeline sahip özdeş alanlar tahmin edilmiştir. Hazırlanan farklı yöntemlerdeki soğuklama haritaları tarımsal ürün çeşitlerinin tespit edilen soğuklama eşikleri ile karşılaştırılarak daha doğru çalışma sonuçları elde edilebilecektir. Bir alanda potansiyel soğuklaması uygun olan tarımsal ürünün potansiyel soğuklaması aynı olan başka alanlarda da aynı uygunlukta olması beklenmektedir. Soğuklama ihtiyacı aynı bitki türünün çeşitleri arasında farklılıklar göstermektedir. Tablo ve haritalar konu ile ilgili araştırmacıların kullanabilecekleri şekilde altlık veriler olarak hazırlanmıştır.

Resting period of some plants is assumed, to begin with, the end of the vegetative period and last until the beginning of the new vegetative period. Some species have stable vegetative and generative development if they meet enough chilling requirements during the rest period. The sum of the chilling period is calculated by adding up hour periods between 0 and 7.2 ° C, while the unit in cold -hour period is calculated using the sum of the fixed values of the specific temperature range. In this study chilling hours and some chilling units calculated for 338 climate stations in Turkey by long-term hourly average temperature data obtained from Turkish State Meteorological Service. An annual value chilling station on the basis of a 10-day period into 36 periods was calculated. Potential interpolation maps were prepared using the values of the chill hours and the chill unit. Identical areas with the same chilling potential were estimated. More accurate results of the study can be obtained by comparing the chilling maps of the different methods prepared with the determined chill thresholds of the agricultural product varieties. Chilling hours in an area suitable agricultural products which would be in compliance in other areas. The chilling requirement varies among varieties of the same plant species. Tables and maps were prepared as database available to the researchers on the subject.
