Medical faculty students mayencounter an emergency at any time during university education or aftergraduation. Each physician must be equipped with first aid information and gainbasic life support skills before graduation. These skills will also contributeto the development of confidence in the physician.This research was conducted toevaluate the effectiveness of first aid training in first year of medicinefaculty.This study is a pre-postregulatory intervention (experimental) type study. A questionnaire questioning the sociodemographic characteristicsprepared by the researchers was followed by tests before (the pre-test) andafter (the post-test) the theoretical-practical training of each subject. The tests that were performed consisted of fourseparate tests on four subjects (basic life support (TYD), bleeding control,recognition of the state of shock and coma and first aid, first approach tofractures). It was determined that the averagepost-training test scores of the four subjects evaluated before and after thetraining were higher than the pre-training test scores. The mean scores of thepost-training test on basic life support were significantly higher in the studentsyounger than 20 years of age when compared with students older than 20 years ofage. The mean scores of the post-training test related to bleeding control weresignificantly higher in the students younger than 20 years of age when comparedwith students older than 20 years of age. The mean scores of pre-training andpost-training on bleeding control were significantly higher in women than inmen. Positive feedback from students at the end of the trainingand meaningful point increases in the evaluations made before and after thetheoretical training; showed us that first aid training applied in the firstyear of the Faculty of Medicine can be successfully applied and positivelycontribute to student motivation.Tıp fakültesi öğrencileri gereküniversite eğitimi süresince gerekse mezuniyet sonrası sahada her an acil birolgu ile karşılaşabilirler. Her hekim mezun olmadan önce ilkyardım bilgisi iledonatılmalı ve temel yaşam desteği becerilerini kazanmalıdır. Bu becerilerhekimin kendine olan güveninin gelişmesinde de katkı sağlayacaktır.Bu araştırma tıp fakültesibirinci sınıfta verilen ilkyardım eğitiminin etkinliğinin değerlendirilmesiamacıyla yapılmıştır.Bu çalışma, önce-sonradüzenlemeli müdahale (deneysel) tipi bir araştırmadır. Araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan sosyodemografik özelliklerisorgulayan bir anket ile birlikte her konunun teorik-pratik eğitimleri öncesinde (ön-test) ve sonrasında (son-test) testler  uygulandı. Uygulanan testler uygulamalı becerieğitimlerinin verildiği dört konudan oluşan (temel yaşam desteği (TYD), kanama kontrolü, şok ve koma durumunun tanınması veilkyardım, kırıklara ilk yaklaşım) olmak üzere dört ayrı testten oluştu.Eğitim öncesi ve sonrasıdeğerlendirme yapılan dört konu ile ilgili eğitim sonrası test puanortalamalarının eğitim öncesi test puan ortalamalarından yüksek olduğubelirlendi. Temel yaşam desteği ile ilgili yapılan eğitim sonrası testtenalınan puan ortalamaları 20 yaş altı öğrencilerde 20 yaş ve üstüne göre anlamlıdüzeyde yüksekti. Kanama kontrolü ile ilgili yapılan eğitim sonrası testtenalınan puan ortalamaları 20 yaş altı öğrencilerde 20 yaş ve üstüne göre anlamlıdüzeyde yüksekti. Kanama kontrolü ile ilgili yapılan eğitim öncesi ve eğitimsonrası testten alınan puan ortalamaları kadınlardaerkeklere göre anlamlı düzeyde yüksekti. Eğitim sonunda öğrencilerden alınan olumlu geribildirimler,teorik eğitim öncesi ve sonrası yapılan değerlendirmelerde belirlenen anlamlı puanartışları Tıp Fakültesi birinci sınıfında uygulanan ilkyardım eğitimininbaşarıyla uygulanabileceği ve öğrenci motivasyonuna olumlu katkılardabulunacağı kanaatine varılmıştır.
