dc.description One of the important methods to improve radiation shielding properties of materials is the boronizing. For this purpose, the produced metal matrix composites have been added the boron carbide (B4C). The boron carbide (B4C) concentrations were 0% and 30%. In this study, The linear attenuation coefficients (mu, cm(-1)) of these metal matrix composites have been measured. The measurements performed at 662, 1173 and 1332 keV which are obtained from Cs-137 and Co-60 radioactive sources, using a gamma spectrometer that contains a Nal(Tl) detector and MCA. The measured results were compared with the calculation obtained using computer code of XCOM for 1 keV-1 GeV gamma energies.
