Ulaşım sistemleri ve politikaları ülkesel ve yerel ölçekte mekânsal ve sosyo-ekonomik gelişmelerden etkilenerek yeniden yapılandığı günümüzde ülkesel ölçekten yaya ulaşımına kadar özenle planlanması/tasarlanması gereken bir ihtiyaç haline gelmiştir. Günümüzde alternatif ulaşım sistemleri olarak kara yolu, deniz yolu, hava yolu ve demir yolu ulaşım sistemleri yenilikçi teknolojik gelişmelerle birlikte kompakt bir şekilde kullanılmaktadır. Çalışmada bölgesel ve kentsel gelişmeler ve planlama süreçlerinde yapılacak olan yatırımların ulaşım altyapısı ile ilişkisinin önemi irdelenmiştir. Denizli-Aydın-Muğla Bölgesi ve Denizli Alt Bölgesi çalışma alanı olarak belirlenmiştir. Ülke içerisinde sanayi, turizm ve tarımsal faaliyetlerin bulunduğu İstatistikî Bölge Birimleri Sınıflamasına (İBBS) göre düzey 2 bölgelerinden biri olan TR32 Aydın Alt Bölgesi (Denizli-Aydın-Muğla) farklı yapılardaki özellikleri ve gelişmeleri ile ulaşım sistemleri üzerindeki etkilerinin hem bölgeye hem de birbirleri ile olan etkileşimleri değerlendirilmiş ve bu kapsamda ulaşım planlamasının kentsel gelişme ile olan etkileşiminin Denizli ili örnek alanı üzerinden tartışılmıştır. Çalışma alanı bütününde bölgesel ve kentsel ulaşım planlamasını eleştirel bir bakış açısıyla değerlendirilmiştir.
Transportation systems and policies have become a necessity that needs to be carefully planned / designed from the national scale to pedestrian transportation today, when they are restructured by being affected by the spatial and socio-economic developments at national and local scale. Today, as alternative transportation systems, road, sea, airway and railway transportation systems are used in a compact way with innovative technological developments. In this study, the importance of the relationship between transportation infrastructure and regional and urban developments and planning will be discussed. Within the scope of the thesis, Denizli, Aydın-Muğla region and the sub-region of Denizli are determined as the study area. TR32 Aydın sub-region which is one of the Level 2 Regions according to the Classification of Statistical Region Units where there are industrial, tourism and agricultural activities within the country is evaluated in terms of its characteristics and developments in different structures and their interactions with each other in the region. And in this context, the interaction of transportation planning with urban development was discussed in the sample area of Denizli. Regional and urban transport planning has been critically evaluated throughout the study area.
