dc.description Radon activity concentrations were measured in potentially high-risk locations of underground workplaces in Prishtina region, Kosovo. This survey was performed by using solid state nuclear track detectors (CR-39) in the spring and winter season for a minimum of 3 months of exposure period. The radon concentration in these workplaces was found to vary from 24 to 360 Bq m(-3), with only one case exceeding the reference level of 300 Bq m(-3). The calculated average effective dose is found to be 1.1 mSv year(-1), which is comparable with the worldwide indoor average annual effective dose of 1.2 mSv year(-1). This investigation should be extended in underground and ground floor workplaces in Kosovo.
