Araştırmada Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Eyaletlerinin okul öncesi eğitim programlarında yer verdikleri sosyal bilgiler (tarih, coğrafya, ekonomi, vatandaşlık) kazanımlarının incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Veri toplama yöntemi olarak doküman analizinin kullanıldığı bu nitel araştırmanın çalışma grubuna dahil edilen eyaletler ölçüt örneklem yoluyla belirlenmiştir. Ülkenin 50 eyaleti arasından İnsani Gelişme Endeksi (İGE) (2018) verilerine göre en yüksek ortalamaya sahip 10 eyaletin okul öncesi eğitim programlarının sosyal bilgiler kazanımları incelenmiştir. Veriler içerik analizi yoluyla analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda, okul öncesi coğrafyada harita ve küre gibi temsillerin kullanımı, ev okul gibi tanıdık yerlerin özellikleri, kültürel özellikler ve farklı kültürlere yönelik kazanımların ön planda tutulduğu görülmüştür. Tarih temasında geçmiş ve günümüz arasında kıyaslamalar yapmaya ve ulusal geleneksel kutlamalara ağırlıklı olarak yer verilmektedir. Ekonomi temasında ise ekonomiye dair temel kavramlar ve meslekler gibi topluluk yardımcıları hakkında kazanımlar öne çıkmaktadır Son olarak Vatandaşlık temasında okul öncesi için demokratik süreçlere aktif katılımın ve topluluk kurallarının sıklıkla yer verilen kazanımlar olduğu görülmüştür. Türkiye’de uygulanan Okul Öncesi Eğitim Programının güncelleme ve genişletilmesine yönelik çalışmalar yapıldığı takdirde mevcut araştırma, bu anlamda araştırmacılara bilimsel dayanak sağlaması açısından öngörü ve önem taşımaktadır. |

In the research, it is aimed to examine the social studies (history, geography, economy, citizenship) standards included in the early childhood education programs of the United States of America. In this qualitative study, in which document analysis is used as the data collection method, the states included in the study group are determined by criterion sampling. Among the 50 states of the country, the 10 states are selected according to the Human Development Index (HDI) (2018) . The early social studies curricula of the states with highest average are examined. The data were analyzed through content analysis. As a result of the research it has been seen that, in the states early childhood education curricula the use of representations such as maps and globes, the characteristics of familiar places such as home and school, cultural characteristics and learning outcomes for different cultures are prioritized in geography themes. In the theme of history, it is emphasized to make comparisons between the past and the present and to national traditional celebrations. On the other hand in the theme of economy, the basic concepts of the economy and the learning outcomes about community helpers such as professions are prominent. Finally, in the theme of citizenship, it has been seen that active participation in democratic processes and community rules for preschoolers constitute the gains that are frequently mentioned. It is believed that the current research will provide support to future researchers when if studies are carried out to update and expand the Early Childhood Education Program implemented in Turkey. |
