Bu çalışma, satranç sporunun sınıfsal durumunu Bourdieu sosyolojisinin anahtar kavramlarıyla incelemek ve satranç alanına ilişkin bir analiz sunmak üzere gerçekleştirilmiştir. Nitel araştırma yöntemi ile yapılan bu araştırmada derinlemesine görüşme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çocuğu Türkiye Satranç Şampiyonası'na katılan yirmi dört sporcu velisi ile görüşülmüştür. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler, satranç sporunun sınıfsal bir alan olduğunu göstermiştir. Sermaye aktarımı ve sermaye dönüşümünün alanda önemli bir dinamik haline gelmesi, sınıfsal olma durumunu destekleyen kilit unsur konumundadır. This study was carried out to examine the class situation of chess sport with the key concepts of Bourdieu's sociology and to present an analysis of the field of chess. In this study, which was conducted with qualitative research method, in-depth interview method was used. The parents of twenty four chess players whose children participated in the Turkish Chess Championship were interviewed. The data obtained in the research showed that chess is a class field. The fact that capital transfer and capital transformation has become an important dynamic in the field is the key factor supporting the class status. It is thought that the result of the research will make a contribution to the studies to be carried out in the field of Chess.
