Bu tez çalışmasında, ülkemizde faaliyette bulunan bir demir-çelik endüstrisinden temin edilen atık cüruftan demir elementinin, farklı atık biyokütleler kullanılarak geri kazanılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç ile demir-çelik endüstrisi kaynaklı atık cüruftan demirin nitrik asit ile liç edilerek, torefiye edilmiş atık biyokütle (çam iğnesi, yeşil ceviz kabuğu, nar çekirdeği) ile adsorpsiyon yöntemiyle geri kazanılması hedeflenmiştir. Demir-çelik atığı olan elektrik ark ocağı cürufu, 109730 mg/kg kalsiyum, 131300 mg/kg demir, 93900 mg/kg silisyum ve 37390 mg/kg mangan içermektedir. SEM-EDS sonuçları da cürufun % 30,98 Ca, % 5,45 Si, % 10,73 Fe, % 3,89 Mn, % 1,88 Mg, % 4,74 Al içerdiğini desteklemektedir. Tez çalışmasında kullanılan çam iğnesi, yeşil ceviz kabuğu, nar çekirdeği ve nar kabuğu biyokütlelerin tümü, orman ve tarım atıklarından oluşan odunsu biyokütlelerdir. Tez çalışmasında kullanılan biyokütleler 250 °C, 260 °C, 270 °C, 280 °C ve 290 °C'de torefiye edilmiş ve yaklaşık analizleri yapılmıştır. Çalışılan torefikasyon sıcaklıklarında çam iğnesi biyokütlesinin nem içeriği % 1,12-% 2,38 aralığında, UM içeriği % 72,18-% 75,74 aralığında, kül içeriği % 13,64-% 18,54, sabit karbon içeriği % 7,32-% 9,58 aralığında bulunmuştur. Yeşil ceviz kabuğu biyokütlesinin nem içeriği % 0,61-% 2,80 aralığında, UM içeriği % 55,34-% 62,08 aralığında, kül içeriği % 30,09-% 37,66, sabit karbon içeriği % 4,12-% 8,76 aralığında bulunmuştur. Nar çekirdeği biyokütlesinin nem içeriği % 0,24-% 1,31 aralığında, UM içeriği % 73,74-% 80,41 aralığında, kül içeriği % 14,39-% 20,05 aralığında, sabit karbon içeriği % 4,55-% 5,41 aralığındadır. Nar kabuğu biyokütlesinin nem içeriği % 1,15-% 2,18 aralığında, UM içeriği % 55,99-% 71,71 aralığında, kül içeriği % 17,43-% 31,22, sabit karbon içeriği % 5,30-% 9,71 aralığında bulunmuştur. Ham biyokütlelerin torefikasyon sonucunda nem içeriği azalmış karbon içerikleri artmıştır. 23 tam faktöriyel dizayn esas alınarak oluşturulan deneylerde Fe liç veriminin % 38,5-% 140 aralığında olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Fe elementinin cüruf numunesinden asidik liç ile solüsyona alınması amacıyla yapılan tam faktöriyel dizayn deneylerinde ana etkiler ve bağımsız faktörler arasındaki etkileşimler varyans analizi (ANOVA) ile belirlenmiş ve % 95 güven aralığındaki sonuçlar dikkate alınarak (P <0,05) regresyon eşitlikleri hesaplanarak Fe liç verimi sonuçları ile ilgili R2 değeri 0,9994 olarak bulunmuştur. 270 °C 60 dakika bekleme süresinde torefiye edilen çam iğnesi, yeşil ceviz kabuğu ve nar çekirdeği biyokütleleri adsorbent olarak kullanılarak gerçek ve sentetik liç solüsyonları ile geri kazanım çalışmaları yapılmıştır. Sentetik liç solüsyonu pH'ı 2,51 ve 250 mg/L Fe konsantrasyonu ile 2 g/L torefiye biyokütle konsantrasyonu, 20 °C, 5-120 dakika deney süresi seçilerek TÇA (çam iğnesi), TCE (yeşil ceviz kabuğu) ve TNÇ (nar çekirdeği) biyokütleleri ile geri kazanım verimleri maksimum % 20 civarında çıkmıştır. Gerçek liç solüsyonunun pH'ı 0,60 ve Fe konsatrasyonu 3682 mg/L olarak ölçülmüş ve temas süresi ve biyokütle dozu etkisine bakılmıştır. 2 g/L torefiye biyokütle dozu, 20 °C, 150 rpm, 120 dk temas süresi sonunda TÇA, TCE, TNÇ biyokütleleri ile sırasıyla % 87,94, % 89,22, % 87,09 Fe geri kazanımı elde edilmiştir. En yüksek Fe geri kazanımı TCE biyokütlesi ile elde edilmiştir. TÇA, TCE ve TNÇ biyokütlelerinin Fe geri kazanımına biyokütle dozunun 0,5-5 g/L aralığında etkisi araştırılmıştır. Tüm torefiye biyokütlelerle yapılan geri kazanım deneylerinde biyokütle dozunun belirgin bir etkisi olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Yapılan çalışamalar sonucunda demir elementi gerçek liç solüsyonundan torefiye biyokütleler ile etkilli bir şekilde geri kazanılmıştır. In this study, it is aimed to recover iron from waste slag obtained from an iron and steel industry operating in our country by using different agricultural wastes. For this purpose, it is aimed to recover iron from waste slag originating from the iron and steel industry by leaching with nitric acid and by adsorption method with torrefied waste biomass (pine needle, green walnut shell, pomegranate seed). Electric arc furnace slag contains 109730 mg/kg calcium, 131300 mg/kg iron, 93900 mg/kg silicon, and 37390 mg/kg manganese. SEM-EDS results also support that the slag contains 30.98 % Ca, 5.45 % Si, 10.73 % Fe, 3.89 % Mn, 1.88 % Mg, and 4.74 % Al. Pine needle, green walnut shell, pomegranate seed and pomegranate peel biomass are all woody biomass consisting of tree and forest waste, agricultural wastes. The biomasses used in this thesis study were torrefied at 250 °C, 260 °C, 270 °C, 280 °C, and, 290 °C. At all torrefied temperatures, the moisture content of the pine needle sample was between 1.12 % and 2.38 %, the volatile matter (VM) content was between 72.18 % and 75.74 %, the ash content was between 13.64 %-18.54 %, and the fixed carbon content was varied between 7.32 % and 9.58.%. The moisture content of the green walnut shell sample was in the range of 0.61 %-2.80 %, the VM content was between 55.34 % and 62.08 %, the ash content was 30.09 %-37.66 %, the fixed carbon content was varied between 4.12 %-8.76 %. The moisture content of the pomegranate seed sample was between 0,24 %-1.31 %, the VM content was between 73.74 % and 80,41 %, and the ash content was between 14.39 %-20.05 %, the fixed carbon content was varied between 4.55 %-5.41 %. The moisture content of the pomegranate peel sample was between 1.15-2.18 %, VM content was between 55.99 %-71.71 %, ash content was between 17.43-31.22 %, fixed carbon content was varied between 5.30 %-9.71 %. In acidic leaching experiments, based on 23 full factorial designs, HNO3 concentration, experiment duration, and temperature were chosen as variables. As a result of acidic leaching studies, it was determined that the Fe leaching efficiency was obtained between 38.5 % and 140 %. The interactions between the main effects and independent factors were determined by analysis of variance (ANOVA) in the full factorial design experiments and considering the results in the 95 % confidence interval (P <0.05), the corresponding R2 value was found to be 0.9994. Biomass of pine needles, green walnut shells, and pomegranate seeds were torrefied at 270 °C, for 60 minutes and then they were used as an adsorbent for recovery studies conducted with real and synthetic leaching solutions. 2 g/L torrefied biomasses TCA (torrefied pine needle), TCE (torrefied green walnut shell) and TNC (torrefied pomegranate seed)) were used in a synthetic leach solution containing 250 mg/L Fe concentration (pH 2.51) at 20 °C, 5-120 minutes reaction time and a maximum Fe recovery efficiency of 20 % was obtained. In real leaching solution (Fe concentration 3682 mg/L, pH 0.60), the effect of contact time and adsorbent dose were investigated. The results showed that with 2 g/L torrefied biomass dose at 20 °C, 150 rpm mixing rate with 120 min contact time, 87.94 %, 89.22 %, 87.09 % Fe recovery was obtained with TCA, TCE, TNC biomasses, respectively. The effect of the adsorbent dose on the Fe recovery of TCA, TCE and TNC biomass in 0.5-5 g/L concentration ranges was investigated, and it was determined that the adsorbent dose did not have a significant effect on the Fe adsorption of all tested biomasses. As a result of the studies carried out in this thesis, it was concluded that Fe was effectively recovered with torrefied biomasses from the real leaching solution.
