Son elli yıldır ekonomik sistemlerin sorumsuzca ihtiyacından fazlasını üretmesi ve tüketmesi sonucunda ekolojik birçok sistem ve insanoğlu etkilenmiştir. Tüketimin en masum ve manipülasyona açık alanı olan hızlı moda endüstrisi ekolojik dengenin bozulmasında sorumlu olarak ilk sıralarda yer almaktadır. Sürdürülebilir çevre, tüketici sağlığı, işçi hakları, tasarımcı emeği gibi konuları göz ardı eden hızlı moda ve hızlı üretim süreçleri beraberinde birçok sorunu getirmiştir. Bu ağır moda döngüsünün altında ezilen tüketiciler ve üreticiler hızlı modanın ekonomik, sosyo kültürel ve çevresel zararlarının farkına varmıştır. Sürdürülebilir moda bu saydığımız her bir zincirin halkalarının haklarının gözetilmesi ve yerel ekonomilerin canlandırılarak, sürdürülebilir çevre anlayışını içeren tüketim alışkanlığının geliştirilmesine öncülük etmektedir. Sürdürülebilir moda tasarımı, insanı, çevreyi, kültürel değerleri, yerel üretimi, kadın işgücünü ve çalışan haklarını savunan tasarım ve üretim süreçlerinde bu unsurları dikkate alan temeli geleneksel tekstil ve moda tasarımına dayanan kapsamlı bir yaklaşımdır. Yaşanabilir bir dünya için geleceğin başat konuları arasında yer alacak olan sürdürülebilir moda tasarım anlayışı tez konusu olarak seçilmiştir. Tez çalışmasının temel araştırma soruları (1) Sürdürülebilir moda tasarımı neden önemlidir? (2) Sürdürülebilir moda tasarımının itici güçleri, kuramsal çerçevesi ve uygulama süreçleri nedir? (3) Sürdürülebilir moda tasarımı tekstil ve moda tasarımında nasıl örneklendirilir? Tez çalışmasında yerli ve yabancı literatür taraması yapılarak sürdürülebilir moda tasarımının kapsam ve uygulama alanları incelenmiştir. İncelenen süreçler ışığında sürdürülebilir çanta tasarımları yapılmıştır. Çanta tasarımlarında malzeme seçimi, tasarım yaklaşımı, ve üretim süreçleri bu bağlamda ele alınmıştır. Ortaya konulan sürdürülebilir moda tasarımı kavramsal boyutunun ve uygulama süreçlerinin konuyu bir adım ileriye taşıması ve bu alanda çalışacak olanlara ışık tutması hedeflenmektedir. As a result of economic systems irresponsibly producing and consuming more than fifty years, many ecological systems and human beings have been affected. Fast fashion industry, the most innocent and open to manipulation area of consumption, takes the first place as responsible for the deterioration of ecological balance.Fast fashion and fast production processes that ignore issues such as sustainable environment, consumer health, workers' rights, designer labor brought with it many problems. Consumers and manufacturers crushed under this heavy fashion cycle realizes the economic, socio-cultural and environmental damages of fast fashion. Sustainable fashion leads the development of the consumption habits that include sustainable environmental understanding by respecting the rights of the rings of each chain and reviving local economies. Sustainable fashion design is a comprehensive approach advocating human, environment, cultural values, local production, female labor force, employee rights and the basis of these elements in design and production processes is based on traditional textile and fashion design. Sustainable fashion design concept which will be among the main topics of the future for a livable world selected as thesis topic. Basic research questions of the thesis work (1) Why is sustainable fashion design important? (2) What is theoretical framework and implementation processes and the driving forces of sustainable fashion design? (3) How to exemplify sustainable fashion design in textile and fashion design? In the thesis study, the scope and application areas of sustainable fashion design were examined by searching the local and foreign literature. Sustainable bag designs were made in the light of examined the processes. Material selection, design approach, technical and production processes in bag designs are cover the territory in this context. Conceptual dimension and implementation processes of revealed sustainable fashion design are aimed to take the subject one step further and shine a light on those who will work in this field.
