Kültür varlıklarının korunması ve onarımı gelişen ve önem kazanan bir disiplin alanıdır. Halı ve kilim dokumalar, kültür varlıklarımız arasında yer alan organik yapılı eserlerdir. Bu eserlerin, bütünlüğünün korunması ve gelecek nesillere doğru şekilde aktarılması bir sorun oluşturmaktadır. Bu süreçte onarımın niteliği önem kazanmaktadır. Nitelikli bir onarım işleminde kültür varlığının sahip olduğu bilimsel, tarihsel ve kültürel değer korunmalıdır. Tezin birinci bölümünde koruma, onarım, restorasyon gibi kavramlar açıklanmıştır. Bu kavramlar ışığında bilimsel nitelikli bir onarım için yapılması gereken işlemler sıralanmıştır. Bu bölümde yer alan; teknik analiz, hasar durumunun tespiti, araştırma ve belgeleme gibi konular literatür taraması ve doküman incelemesiyle elde edilen verilere dayanılarak açıklanmıştır. Tezin ikinci bölümünde, onarım yapan ustaların sahip oldukları bilgi ve tecrübenin bu alan için kaynak olabileceği düşünülerek, onarımın aşamaları belgelenmiştir. Onarım aşamalarında görüşme ve gözlem yapılmış, fotoğraflar çekilerek tüm süreçler belgelenmiştir. Tezin üçüncü bölümünde, yapmış olduğum uygulamalara ait görseller ile birlikte sonuç ve değerlendirme kısmı yer almıştır. Onarılacak halının ya da kilimin taşıdığı kültürel değere bağlı olarak yaklaşım şekli ve uygulamalar değişebilmektedir. Günlük hayatta dekoratif amaçlı kullanılan bir dokumanın onarımı için yeniden işlev kazanması öncelik olmaktadır. Tarihi nitelikte bir halı ya da kilim için yaklaşım şekli değişmektedir. Protection and restoration of cultural assets is a developing and important discipline. Carpet and rug weavings are organic structures that are among our cultural assets. Maintaining the integrity of these works and transferring them to the next generations poses a problem. The quality of the renovation becomes important in this process. In a qualified repair or renovation process, the scientific, historical and cultural value of the cultural asset should be preserved. In the first part of the thesis, concepts such as conservation, repair, restoration are handled. In the light of these concepts, the procedures to be performed for a scientific repair are listed. In this section; Issues such as technical analysis, determination of damage status, research and documentation are explained on the basis of data obtained through literature review and document review. In the second part of the thesis, the knowledge and experience of repair masters can be considered as a resource for his field, and the stages of repair are documented. During the repair stages, interviews and observations were made and all processes were documented by taking photos. In the third part of the thesis, the evaluation and the result obtained from our research and the image and photos which are the basis of our study are included. Depending on the cultural value of the carpet or rug to be repaired, the approach and practices can be various. Re-functioning of a fabric used for decorative purposes in Daily life is a priority.
