Cittaslow; diğer değişle sakin veya yavaş şehirler doğaya karşı duyarlı, yerel kaynakların kullanımında özenli, kendi kültürüne sahip çıkan, yerel üretime ve yerel mutfağa değer veren, yaşayanlarına ve ziyaretçilerine bireysel deneyimler sunarak refah seviyesi yüksek bir yaşam sağlayan kentlerdir. Bu kentlerin bahsi geçen kriterleri sağlamaları için çeşitli projeler yürütmeleri gerekmektedir. Yürütülen projelerin çağımızın gereklerinden olan sürdürülebilirlik ilkesini de göz ardı etmeden hazırlanmaları gerekmektedir. Bu bağlamda Eğirdir ilçesinin cittaslow değerini araştırarak ilçenin yerel ve geleneksel değerlerini ön plana çıkararak teknolojinin imkanlarından faydalanırken kent tanıtımına ve yerel kalkınmaya fayda sağlayan sürdürülebilir tasarımlar hazırlamasını öngören bu çalışma; aynı zamanda Türkiye'deki cittaslowlara örnek teşkil etmek, tasarımın kent kalkınmasına sağlayabileceği katkılara da dikkat çekilmek gibi amaçları gütmektedir. Çalışmanın uygulama aşamasında Eğirdir ilçesinin tarihi, sosyal, kültürel, coğrafi değerlerinin incelenmesi, kentin kendi değerleri ışığında cittaslow olma kriterlerini destekler noktaların tespit edilmesi, tespit edilen bilgiler doğrultusunda tasarım önerileri ve bu önerilerden uygun bulunanların projelendirilmesi planlanmıştır. Cittaslows; in other words, calm or slow cities are cities that are sensitive to nature, careful in the use of local resources, protect their own culture, value local production and local cuisine, and provide a life of high welfare by offering individual experiences to their residents and visitors. These cities need to carry out various projects in order to meet the mentioned criteria. The projects carried out must be prepared without ignoring the sustainability principle, which is one of the requirements of our age. In this context, this study envisages researching the cittaslow value of Eğirdir district, preparing sustainable designs that can bring the local and traditional values of the district to the forefront, benefit from the possibilities of technology, benefit city promotion and local development. In addition, this study aims to set an example to cittaslow in Turkey, to contribute to the design of urban development also can provide is to draw attention. In the implementation phase of the study, it was planned to examine the historical, social, cultural and geographical values of the district of Eğirdir, to determine the points that support the cittaslow criteria in the light of the city's own values, to design suggestions in line with the information determined and to project the appropriate suggestions.
