Bu çalışma giriş ve üç bölümden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmanın giriş bölümünde konusu, önemi, amacı, araştırmanın kapsamı, sınırları ve son olarak da araştırmanın kaynakları hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde Gazzâlî öncesi Ehl-i Sünnet kelamının felsefe ile karşılaşması ele alınmıştır. Tercüme faaliyetleri vasıtasıyla felsefe ile tanışan İslam düşüncesi hakkında bilgi verildikten sonra bu faaliyetlerin tarihsel sürecinden bahsedilmiştir. Söz konusu tercümelerden önemli ölçüde faydalanan ve felsefî konu ve kavramların İslam düşüncesine dahil olmasında mühim bir rol oynayan Mu'tezilîler ve onların çalışmaları hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Daha sonra kelam-felsefe ilişkisinin epistemolojik temelleri izah edilmiştir. Bu bağlamda Antik Yunan filozoflarının bilgiye ilişkin yaklaşımları, bunların Mu'tezile tarafından ne ölçüde benimsendiği ve Ehl-i Sünnet'in felsefecilere ve onlardan etkilenen Mu'tezile'ye yönelik itirazları tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Bununla birlikte hem Mu'tezile'nin hem de Ehl-i Sünnet'in akla ve nassa atfettikleri otoriteden bahsedilerek yine sünnî-mu'tezilî tartışmalar aktarılmıştır. Son olarak bu bölümde kelam-felsefe ilişkisinin metodolojik temelleri incelenmiştir. Buna göre kelam ilminde başvurulan aklî ve naklî delillere ve aklî delillerin felsefî kökenlerine ilişkin bilgi verilmiştir. İkinci bölümde Allah'ın varlığı, birliği ve sıfatlarına ilişkin kelamcıların istidlâl metotları izah edilmiştir. Konuya ilişkin kelamcıların hem aklî hem de naklî delillerine yer verilmiştir. Ehl-i Sünnet burada kendisi de felsefî sayılabilecek birtakım akıl yürütme metotlarına başvurmakla birlikte Mu'tezile'nin felsefî argümanlarına itiraz etmiştir. Daha sonra mu'tezilî görüşlerde en açık şekilde felsefî etkinin takip edilebildiği tenzih temelli mu'tezilî tanrı tasavvuru ve Ehl-i Sünnet'in eleştirilerine yer verilmiştir. Daha sonra Allah'ın zâtî sıfatları ve fiilleri hakkında Ehl-i Sünnet'in tutumu ve hem felsefeye hem de Mu'tezile'ye yönelttiği itirazlar tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın üçüncü bölümü Allah-âlem-insan ilişkisi bağlamında kelamî ve felsefî yaklaşımlar üzerinedir. Burada ilk olarak yaratma konusu ele alınmıştır. Felsefî temelli yaratma ve ma'duma ilişkin felsefî ve kelamî iddialar belirlenmiştir. Daha sonra insanların fiillerinde özgür olup olmadığına ilişkin kelamî ve felsefî kabuller ve tartışmalar tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Nitekim bazı Mu'tezilîler tabiat filozoflarından tevarüs ettikleri nedensellik ilkesine dayanarak İslam inancına aykırı sayılabilecek yorumlar geliştirmiştir. Bu da doğal olarak Ehl-i Sünnet'in tepkisini çekmiştir. Devam eden başlıklarda nübüvvet kurumuna yöneltilen felsefî itirazlar ve Ehl-i Sünnet'in bu itirazlara yönelik cevapları incelenmiştir. Son olarak da Ehl-i Sünnet'in ruh ve ahiret konularına dair kabullerine ve felsefî düşüncenin etkisiyle İslam inancına aykırı fikirler geliştiren Mu'tezile'ye yönelik itirazlarına yer verilmiştir. This study consists of an introduction and three chapters. In the introduction, the subject, importance, purpose, scope and limits of the study and finally the sources of the study are explained. The first part of the study deals with the encounter of Ahl al-Sunnah theology with philosophy before al-Ghazālī. After giving information about the Islamic thought that met philosophy through translation activities, the historical process of these activities was mentioned. The Mu'tazilites and their works, who benefited significantly from these translations and played an important role in the incorporation of philosophical topics and concepts into Islamic thought, are given information about. Then, the epistemological foundations of the theology-philosophy relationship were explained. In this context, the approaches of the ancient Greek philosophers to knowledge, the extent to which they were adopted by the Mu'tazilites, and the objections of Ahl al-Sunnah against the philosophers and the Mu'tazilites influenced by them were tried to be determined. In addition, the authority that both the Mu'tazilites and the Ahl al-Sunnah ascribe to reason and evidence is mentioned and the Sunnite-Mu'tazilite debates are presented. Finally, this chapter examines the methodological foundations of the theology-philosophy relationship. Accordingly, information is given on the rational and narrative evidences used in theology and the philosophical origins of rational evidences. In the second chapter, the theologians methods of proof regarding the existence, unity and attributes of Allah are explained. Both rational and narrative proofs of the theologians on the subject are included. Here, the Ahl al-Sunnah objected to the philosophical arguments of the Mu'tazilites, even though they themselves used some methods of reasoning that could be considered philosophical. Then, the Mu'tazilite conception of God based on tawzīh, which is the most clearly traceable philosophical influence in Muʿtazilite views, and the criticisms of Ahl al-Sunnah are given. Then, the Ahl al-Sunnah's position on God's attributes and actions and its objections to both philosophy and the Mu'tazilites were tried to be determined. The third part of the study focuses on the theological and philosophical approaches in the context of the relationship between God, the universe and human beings. Here, the issue of creation is discussed first. Philosophical and theological arguments about creation and ma'dum on philosophical grounds are identified. Then, the theological and philosophical assumptions and debates on whether humans are free in their actions were tried to be identified. As a matter of fact, some Mu'tazilites developed interpretations that could be considered contrary to the Islamic faith based on the principle of causality that they inherited from natural philosophers. This naturally drew the reaction of Ahl al-Sunnah. In the following chapters, philosophical objections to the institution of prophethood and Ahl al-Sunnah's responses to these objections are analyzed. Finally, Ahl al-Sunnah's acceptance of the soul and the hereafter and their objections to the Mu'tazilites, who developed ideas contrary to the Islamic faith under the influence of philosophical thought, are included.
