Kur'ân'-ı Kerim ve hadis-i şeriflerde insanların imtihana tabi tutulmaları amacıyla musibetlere maruz kalacakları ifade edilmiştir. Geçici olan dünya hayatının yerine sonsuz mutluluk yeri olan ahiretin öncelenmesi gerektiği tavsiye edilmiştir. Son senelerde tüm evreni etkisi altına alan ve ciddi kayıplara neden olan küresel afetler meydana gelmiştir. Özellikle korona virüs salgını, ülkemizde ve dünyanın çeşitli ülkelerinde meydana gelen büyük ölçekteki depremler, sel ve yangın gibi felâketler bunlara örnektir. Bu küresel musibetlerin akabinde insanlık tıpkı geçmişteki gibi şimdi de bu olayların neden oluştuğunu irdelemektedir. Bilim tarihinde bu soruya farklı cevaplar verilmiştir. Bu çalışma, konuya ilişkin ayetlerin kapsamlı bir biçimde ele alınmasına dayanmaktadır. İmam Mâtürîdî'nin, Te'vîlâtü'l-Kur'ân adlı eserinden yola çıkarak Kur'ân-ı Kerîm'de musibet ile ilgili bütün ayetler detaylıca ele alınıp incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde İmam Mâtürîdî'nin hayatına dair bilgiler verilmiş, akabinde musibet ve kendisiyle yakın anlamlı kelimelerin semantik açıklaması yapılmıştır. Bu kavramlar hakkında genel bir açıklama yapıldıktan sonra musibet konusu Mâtürîdî'nin bakış açısına göre değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca kelam ekollerinin konu ile ilgili görüşlerine yer verilmiştir. Son olarak musibetin sabırla ilişkisine değinilmiştir. Yapılan çalışmada insanların maruz kaldıkları musibetlerin Allah'ın takdiri ile gerçekleştiği anlaşılmıştır. Bununla birlikte kulların kendi hür iradeleriyle yapmış oldukları fiilleri neticesinde yapmış oldukları hata ve günahlar sebebiyle de bu musibetlerin gerçekleştiği görülmüştür. It is stated in the Holy Quran and hadiths that people will be exposed to calamities in order to be tested. It has been recommended that the afterlife, which is the place of eternal happiness, should be examined instead of the temporary worldly life. In recent years, global disasters have occurred that have affected the entire universe and caused serious losses. Disasters such as the coronavirus epidemic, large-scale earthquakes, floods and fires that occur in our country and in various countries around the world are examples of these. Following these global disasters, humanity is now examining why these events occurred, just like in the past. Different answers have been given to this question in the history of science. This study is based on a comprehensive analysis of the verses on the subject. Based on Imam Mâtürîdî's work called Te'vîlâtü'l-Kur'an, all the verses in the Holy Quran related to calamity were discussed and examined in detail. In the introduction part of the study, information about the life of Imam Maturidi was given, followed by a semantic explanation of calamity and words with similar meanings. After a general explanation was made about these concepts, the issue of calamity was evaluated from Māturīdī's perspective. Additionally, the views of the Kalam schools on the subject are included. Finally, the relationship between calamity and patience is mentioned. In the study, it was understood that the calamities that people were exposed to occurred by God's will. However, it has been observed that these calamities occurred due to the mistakes and sins committed by the servants as a result of their actions of their own free will. In addition, it has been understood that there are various factors that cause disasters, and an opinion has been formed about the importance of responding to them with patience.
