Bu çalışmanın ana amacı ahlaki kimliğin iş tatmini üzerindeki etkisinin ve bu etkide temel psikolojik ihtiyaç tatmininin rolünün belirlenmesidir. Bununla bağlantılı olarak ahlaki kimliğin öz belirleme teorisi açısından incelenmesi çalışmanın bir diğer amacıdır. Çalışmanın örneklemi Türkiye'deki devlet üniversitelerinde görev alan 589 akademisyenden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmanın amaçları doğrultusunda ahlaki kimlikle temel psikolojik ihtiyaç tatmininin boyutları olan özerklik tatmini, yeterlilik tatmini ve ilişkililik tatmini arasındaki ilişkiyi araştırmak amacıyla ve ahlaki kimlik, temel psikolojik ihtiyaç tatmini ve iş tatmini arasındaki ilişkileri araştırmak amacıyla iki ayrı yapısal eşitlik modellemesi oluşturulmuştur. İlk modelin sonuçları ahlaki kimliğin özerklik tatmini, yeterlilik tatmini ve ilişkililik tatmini üzerinde pozitif yönlü ve anlamlı bir etkisinin olduğunu, ikinci modelin sonuçları ise ahlaki kimliğin temel psikolojik ihtiyaç tatmini ve iş tatmini üzerinde, temel psikolojik ihtiyaç tatmininin ise iş tatmini üzerinde anlamlı ve pozitif etkilerinin olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca ahlaki kimliğin iş tatmini üzerindeki etkisinde temel psikolojik ihtiyaç tatmininin tam aracılık rolünü üstlendiği tespit edilmiştir. The main purpose of this study is to determine the effect of moral identity on job satisfaction and the role of basic psychological need satisfaction in this effect. Related to this, analysing moral identity in terms of self-determination theory is another aim of the study. The sample of the study consists of 589 academicians working in state universities in Turkey. In line with the objectives of the study, two separate structural equation models were created to investigate the relationship between moral identity and satisfaction of autonomy, competence and relatedness, which constitute the dimensions of basic psychological need satisfaction, and to investigate the relationship between moral identity, basic psychological need satisfaction and job satisfaction. The results of the first model show that moral identity has a positive and significant effect on autonomy satisfaction, competence satisfaction and relatedness satisfaction, while the results of the second model show that moral identity has significant and positive effects on basic psychological need satisfaction and job satisfaction, and basic psychological need satisfaction has significant and positive effects on job satisfaction. In addition, it has been determined that basic psychological need satisfaction has a full mediating role in the effect of moral identity on job satisfaction.
