dc.description In this thesis, the design and production of a test rig, which can analyze fretting wear on journal bearing, by having fixed shaft and vibrational motion to bearing housing given, was aimed. On the test rig, vibration motion, of which amplitude can be adjusted, can be generated to two-piece journal bearing on a fixed shaft supported from both ends. Mikro vibration motor was mounted which can be adjusted vibration amplitude. Ck45 (SAE1050) shaft and commercial AlSn20Cu alloys engine journal bearing were used as test samples. Tests were made to examine fretting wear of the test samples in 8-hour test of time in different cysles at different frequencys of the vibration motor (25 Hz, 33,3 Hz and 41,7 Hz). In initial of the test, interior parts of bearing body and shaft surface were lubricated and after during the test, there were any lubrication. In thesis, coefficient of friction, surface roughness measurements, temperature measurements and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis were examined. In the tests, as the frequency of vibration motor is usually increase, it have been shown to increase coefficient of friction and the values of surface roughness. The increase temperature of the bearing surface is faster and higher in the high frequency and after a certain value, the temperature remains constant. Fretting wear is seen to increase with increasing frequency. Keywords: Wear, fretting wear, journal bearings, vibration
