Üç boyutlu bir kalıp çıkarma ve giysi tasarlama tekniği olan drapaj, kumaşın canlı ya da cansız manken üzerinde şekillendirilmesi ile uygulanmaktadır. Bu yöntem tasarımcıya birebir kumaşla çalışma şansı tanıdığından dolayı yaratıcılığı yüksek seviyeler çıkartmaktadır. Ayrıca, doğrudan vücut üzerinde uygulanmasından ötürü giysinin vücut ile ilişkisi mükemmel uyum içerisinde olmaktadır. Bu tez çalışmasında giysi tasarımında drape tekniği ve sanatsal uygulamaları yapıldı. İlk olarak giysi tasarımının tanımına ve giysi kalıbı elde etme yöntemlerine daha sonrada drapenin tanımına, tarihçesine ve kullanıldığı yerlere değinilmiştir. Sanatsal uygulamaların temasına göre tasarlanan özgün giysilerin yapım sürecine ve bu süreçte karşılaşılan problemlere yer verilmiştir. Draping is a three dimensional pattern making and designing method that is manupulated by shaping the fabric on a live model model or an a dummy. Since designers have the chance to work with the fabric directly, this method increases the level of creativity in designs. Also, since the method is directly practiced on the dummy, the relationship between the body and garment is in perfect harmony. This thesis in the clothes drape technique and design work was artistic practices. first, the definition of garment design and pattern of clothing to later in the definition of methods for obtaining the drape was talking about the place where history and use. The construction process of the original garments designed according to the theme of artistic practice and is devoted to the problems encountered in this process.
