Araştırmada, 1 ay süre ile 10 ayrı haneden mutfak atıkları toplanmış, toplanan evsel atıklardan elde edilen kompostun sera koşullarında mısır ve biber bitkilerinin gelişimi ve besin elementi içeriğine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Deneme 2 kg toprak alan saksılarda yürütülmüş olup, kompostun 6 dozu (0, 250, 500, 1000, 2000 ve 4000 kg da-1) uygulanarak 4 paralelli olarak tesadüf parselleri deneme desenine göre kurulmuş ve 54 gün süreyle yürütülmüştür. Araştırma sonunda hasat edilen bitkilerde kuru ağırlık değerleriyle N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu, Zn ve Mn konsantrasyonları belirlenmiştir. Uygulanan kompost miktarı arttıkça bitki kuru ağırlığı artmış, biber bitkisinin N konsantrasyonunda 2-2.4 kat arasında artışlar görülmüştür. Mısır bitkisi N konsantrasyonları da kompost dozlarından olumlu etkilenmiş fakat burada dozlar arası fark önemli bulunmamıştır. Bitkilerde P, K ve Ca konsantrasyonları kompost miktarı arttıkça olumlu yönde etkilenmiş, biberde Fe, Zn ve Mn konsantrasyonları, mısırda ise Mn konsantrasyonu etkisi istatistiksel anlamda önemli bulunmuştur. This study was carried out to determine the effect of kitchen originated compost on growth and mineral nutrition of corn and pepper plants under greenhouse conditions. For this purposes kitchen wastes from 10 houses were collected during a month and they were composted. Six dozes for the compost (0, 250, 1000, 2000 and 4000 kg da-1) were applied to the 2 kg soil containing pots. Study was planned based on randomized parcels with 4 replicates and study lasted 54 days. At and of the study, plant dry weights, N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu, Zn and Mn concentrations were measured. Depending on the applied compost applied, plant dry weights showed increment and N concentration in pepper plant increased 2 -2.4 times. Also N concentration in corn plant was positively affected from the compost applications but no significant differences were found among the doses. Phosphorus, K and Ca concentrations of the plants were affected positively from the compost does, Fe, Zn and Mn concentrations in pepper, Mn concentrations in corn significantly were affected from compost applications.
