Dünyadaki tüm ülkelerin amaçlarından birisi de, sağlıklı bireylerden oluşan gelişmiş bir toplum yapısının oluşturulmasıdır. Sağlıklı ve gelişmiş toplum hedefine ulaşabilmek ise ancak iyi örgütlenmiş bir sağlık sistemi ile mümkün olabilir. Bu bağlamda, gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülkelerde sağlık hizmetleri ayrıcalıklı bir yere sahiptir. İyi örgütlenmiş bir sağlık sisteminin oluşturulmasında ise sağlık bilişim sistemlerinin önemi büyüktür. Bilgi teknolojileri diğer bütün sektörleri etkilediği gibi sağlık sektörünü de büyük ölçüde etkilemiştir. Sağlık sektöründe yer alan kurumlar, karar verme aşamasında verileri daha bilinçli şekilde kullanarak değerlendirmek, hizmet alanını genişletmek, verimliliği artırarak maliyetleri düşürmek, müşteri hizmetlerini iyileştirmek ve kaynakların daha iyi yönetilmesini sağlamak amacıyla bilgi teknolojilerinde ve sağlık bilişim sistemlerinden faydalanmak zorundadır. Bu çalışmada sağlık sektöründe kullanılan bilgi teknolojilerini ve sağlık bilişim sistemlerinin kullanım düzeyini incelemek amacıyla İzmir İli'nde bulunan hastaneler üzerinde bir araştırma yapılmış ve sonuçları değerlendirilmiştir. One of the purposes of all countries in the world is to form a developed society constitution which consists of healthy individuals. To reach the aim of a healthy and developed society can only be possible with a well organized healthcare system. In this context, the healthcare services in developed and developing countries are critically important. Healthcare Information Systems have vital importance for a well organized Healthcare System. Information Technologies affect the Healthcare Sector just like other sectors. The corporations in Healthcare Sector need to take advantage of Information Technologies and Healthcare Information Systems to evaluate the data more carefully on decision making process, expanding the service range, decreasing the cost by the help of increasing the productivity, improving customer service and making the management of the resources better. In this study, a research is conducted on the hospitals in Izmir and the results are evaluated in order to investigate the degree of the Healthcare Sector's usage of the Information Technologies and Healthcare Information Systems.
