Türk milletinin tarih sahnesindeki buhranlı dönemlerinden birisi, hiç şüphesiz Osmanlı Devleti'nin son zamanlarıdır. Bu dönemde problemleri çözeceği inancıyla değişik fikirler ortaya atılmış, farklı politikalar izlenmiştir. Bu aşamada Türk toplumu üzerinde önemli tesirleri görülen Türkçü aydınların, Osmanlı Devleti'nin yıkılmasından sonra kurulan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin fikri yapısının oluşmasında da önemli katkıları olmuştur. Bu nedenle Türkçülerin zihniyeti, fikirlerinde dinin yeri ve etkisi hep tartışıla gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada önemli Türkçü aydınlardan ve "Pantürkizm'in Babası" olarak da tanınan Yusuf Akçura'nın din ve toplum görüşleri sosyolojik bir bakış açısıyla ele alınmaya çalışılmıştır. Yusuf Akçura, Türk toplumunun içinde düştüğü durumdan kurtulabilmesi için Osmanlı aydınları tarafından ortaya konan Osmanlıcılık ve İslamcılık politikalarına alternatif olarak Türkçülük fikir akımını hararetli bir şekilde savunmuştur. Akçura'nın Türk toplumunun kurtuluş reçetesi olarak ortaya koyduğu Türkçülük anlayışı, dine alternatif veya dinden uzak bir anlama sahip değildir. Ona göre, İslam ve Türkçülük, gelişme ve modernleşme yolunda birbirini besleyen iki yaklaşımdır. Bu şekilde Türk toplumu en kuvvetli sosyal bütünleşmeyi gerçekleştirecek ve muasırlaşma yolunda önemli adımlar atacaktır. One of the critic periods of the Turkish people on the stages of history, it is surely the last terms of the Ottoman Empire. During that term, many ideas have been put fonvard with the hope of solving problems, and different policies have been put into practice. On that phase, the Turkish intellects that had a big impact on the Turkish society made many important contributions also to construct the shape of the thoughts of the Turkish Republic. As a result, the effects and place of religion on the ideals and thoughts of the Turkists have always been discussed. in this study, it is aimed to take Yusuf Akçura, one of the important Turkish intellects and who is also known as "The Father of Panturkism", in sociological points of his ideals on religion and society. Yusuf Akçura supported the Turkism ideology ardently as an alternative to the Ottomanism and Islamısm policies which were put fonvard by the ottoman intellects to save the Turkish society firom the situation they were in. The Turkism ideology Akçura prescribed as the salvation for the Turkish society neither is an alternative to religion nor has got a meaning far from it. in his opinion, islam and Turkism are two approaches which foster each other with modernism and development. in this way, Turkish society can develop its most powerful social integration, and it will also take great steps in the way of modernization.
