Demre ülkemizin turistik ilçelerinin önde gelenlerindendir. Özellikle Hıristiyanlık ve önceki dönemlere ait dini kült alanlarının yaygın olması, dini turizm ağırlığını hissettirmektedir. Bilhassa Noel Baba kilise ve manastırının bulunması dini turizmin ağırlığını gözler önüne sermektedir. Yine ilçeye dağılmış antik kült ve kültür alanları ilçenin turizm zenginliğini arttırmaktadır. Demre'de bulunan Noel Baba Kilise ve manastırı, Myra Kaya Mezarları ve harabeleri, Batık kent ve diğer ören yerleri ve sit alanlarını zikredebiliriz. Ancak, henüz pek çok tarihi alan ve eserlere arkeologlar tarafından araştırılmamış olup, bu eserler turizme kapılarının açılacağı günleri beklemektedir. Demre is among the leading tourist town of our country. That the religious cult areas of the Christianity and the previous period are widwspread make us feel the importance of the religious tourism of the town. St. Nicholas church and monastery are the most important elements of the religious tourism of the town. Yet the regions of the town which possessed the heritance of the cult and culture of the antiquities increases the touristic wealth of the town. Church and monastery of Santa Claus, Myra rock tombs and ruins, sunken cities and other sites of ruins and can be referred about the touristic centers of the town. However, there are many historical areas in which the archaeologists have not made any research yet. And these areas are waiting for the archaeologists' research.
