Yoksulluk, günümüzde gelişmiş ya da gelişmekte olan ülkelerin sorunlarından biri olarak önemini korumaktadır. Ülkede yaşayan insanların yoksulluk sorunundan etkilenme derecesi ülkelerin ekonomik yapılarına, uyguladıkları sosyal ve ekonomik politikalara göre değişiklik göstermektedir. Tüm dünyayı etkileyen bu sorunun ülkemizi de etkilememesi söz konusu değildir. Ülkemizi de etkileyen bu sorunun bölgelere yansımaları ise benzer olabildiği gibifarklılıklar da gösterebilmektedir. Bölgeler, hatta aynı yöredeki ilçeler arasında oluşabilecek farklılıkları tespit etmeyi amaçlayan ve dört bölümden oluşan bu çalışmada Hatay iline bağlı Erzin ve Dörtyol ilçelerindeki yoksulluğun nedenleri araştırılmıştır. Birinci bölümde yoksulluk ile ilgili tanımlar ve yoksulluğun kavramsal çerçevesi üzerinde durulmuş ve yoksullukla ilgili temel kavramlardan bahsedilmiştir. Bunun yanında yoksulluğun nedenlerine inilmiş, yoksulluğun ölçülmesi ile ilgili yöntemler ele alınmıştır. Küreselleşme ile yoksulluk arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Kuramsal çerçeve ise yine bu bölümde ele alınmıştır. Birinci bölümün sonunda ise genelde yoksulluk konusu Dünya'da ve Türkiye'de ele alınmıştır. İkinci bölümde ise uygulama sahası olan Erzin ve Dörtyol ilçelerinin tarihi ve kültürel yönleri, ekonomik yönleri ile birlikte ele alınarak açıklanmıştır. Araştırma ile ilgili genel bilgilere de yine bu bölümde yer verilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde ise analiz ve yorumlara yer verilmiştir. Analizler ise genel değerlendirme, ilçeler arası değerlendirme ve yoksul olanlarla yoksul olmayanların karşılaştırılması şeklinde üç aşamada ele alınmıştır. Son bölümde ise bulgular değerlendirilip tartışıldıktan sonra yoksulluğu azaltacak önerilerle çalışma tamamlanmıştır. Poverty, keeps its importance as one of the problems of the developed and developing countries.The degree of being affected from the poverty problem among people who live in the country changes according to the economic conditions of countries,the economic and social politics that they practise. It is not possible that this problem influencing all over the world will not affect our counrty either. The reflections to the regions of this problem which influences our country can be similar as well as different. In this study which aims to ascertain the differences that could take place between regions,even between the local areas in the same neighbourhood and which consists of four parts ,the causes of the poverty in Erzin and Dörtyol towns of Hatay have been researched.In the first part,It was focused on the terms about poverty and the conceptual point of poverty and also the basic terms about poverty were mentioned. Besides this the causes of poverty and the methods of measuring poverty have benn deeply reviewed. The bond between globalization and poverty has benn researched.. İnstitutiomal fremework has also been handled in this part. In the second part,the poverty issue in world and Turkey was discussed at the end of first part. In the second part the cultural and historical aspects besides the ecenomic espects of the districts of the application regions Erzin and Dörtyol have been explained.General informatiom to the work has also been given. İn the third part analyses and comments have been given in. Analyses have been handled in three stages such as general evaluation, interdistrictual evaluation and the comparison between the poor and the wealthy. In the last part after evaluating and discussing the findings the work has been completed with the suggestions of decreaseing poverty.
