Bu tez çalışmasında Eski Yunan hayatında müziğin kullanıldığı alanların ve müzik aletlerinin çeşitliliği üzerinde durulmuştur. Birinci bölümde, müzik aletlerinin, hangi materyallerden oluşturulduğu ve nasıl üretildiği açıklanmıştır. Bu müzik aletlerinin korunması ve icra edilmesi konularında bilgi verilmiştir.İkinci bölümde, Eski Yunan müziğinin tanrısal kökenleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Tanrılar, tanrıçalar ve yarı tanrıların müzikle olan ilişkileri anlatılmış, onların kullandıkları müzik aletleriyle ilgili detaylı bilgiler verilmiştir. Ayrıca tanrılar ve tanrıçaların onuruna kutlanan festivallerden ve bu festivallerde icra edilen müzikten de bahsedilmiştir.Tezimizin üçüncü bölümünde ise, müziğin hangi alanlarda ne amaçla kullanıldığı ele alınmıştır. Bazı alanlarda belirli müzik aletlerinin kullanılmasının nedenleri detaya inilerek anlatılmıştır. Bu insanların en ciddi dini törenlerden, en komik eğlencelere kadar yaşamlarının her alanında müziği kullandığı ve müziğin onlar için ne kadar değerli olduğu ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. In this study, we have dealt with how the ancient Greeks used the music and its spheres. In the first chapter, we have dealt with how various musical instruments were made, performed and carried.In the second chapter, we have focused on the divine origin of the music and we have also covered the gods, goddesses and semi-gods and musical instruments and their use by them. Ancient Greeks believed that the music had divine in its origin that’s why they held festivals accompanied with music for the honors of gods.In the third chapter of the thesis, we have exhibited how and in which spheres of life the music was used by the ancient Greeks in detail. For what purposes and in what spheres the music was used has been displayed in a detailed way. We have also shown how preciously the music was valued by the ancient Greeks. In this part, we have tried to show with many examples to what extent the music was used in daily lives of ancient Greeks and it was indispensable for their daily entertainments and in all spheres of their daily lives.
