Felsefe tarihi içerisinde pek çok filozofun üzerinde önemle durduğu, insanın kendini ve çevresini tanımada kullandığı aracın ne olacağı problemi birçok farklı felsefi görüşün oluşmasına zemin hazırlamıştır. Filozoflar içinde bulundukları dünya görüşleri çerçevesinde bu sorulara cevap aramış, ampirizm akımının kurucusu olarak görülen Locke ise bu soruya akıl cevabının yanında kendi ampirist anlayışına karşı çıkma pahasına vahyi de vermiştir.Araştırmamız Locke'un bu iki alanı uzlaştırma gayreti üzerinde kurulmuştur.Öncelikle Locke'un akıl kavramından ne kastettiği ve vahiy olarak neleri kabul ettiği üzerine bir inceleme yapılmış, aynı zamanda akla dayalı bir din olmadığı takdirde ortaya çıkabilecek sorunlar detaylı analizlerle tartışılmıştır. The question of tools for defining human being and its environment that many philosophers have emphasized throughout the history has caused the formation of various philosophical views.Philosophers have always sought answers for such questions in the frame of their own conception of the world .Despite his own empiricist view ,the founder of empiricism theory Locke’s answer for this questions was ‘revelation’ as well ,beside ‘reason’ .The research is based on Locke’s efforts to reconciliation of these two fields. We study the definition of Locke’s ‘reason’ concept and what he means by ‘revelation’.The paper also discusses the detailed analysis of potential problems,if there were no religion based on reason .
