Günümüzde kentsel mekanlar sermayenin küresel talepleriyle biçimlenmektedir. Gezi olayları da bu talepler karşısında çevreci bir sosyal hareket olarak ortaya çıkmış ve çok kısa sürede kitlelerin isyanına dönüşmüştür. Aslında Harvey'in belirttiği gibi kentler, kapitalizmin gelişimine bağlı olarak artı değerin yaratıldığı mekânlardır ve artı değer toplumsal yapıyı sınıflara bölerek ayrıştırmakta ve kent, artı değerin harekete geçirilmesine dayalı bir yapıya dönüşmektedir. Kapitalizm kenti kendi mantığı çerçevesinde dönüştürürken, onu sadece yaşam mekânı olarak değil aynı zamanda değişim değeri olan bir meta olarak da görmektedir.Kentler aynı zamanda sosyal hareketlerin ortaya çıktığı mekânlardır. Küresel kent de bu anlamda önemli bir kentsel çatışma potansiyeli barındırmaktadır. Küresel kent aynı zamanda iki uç arasında gittikçe artan bir refah uçurumuna, derin bir ekonomik, sosyal ve mekansal ayrışmaya sahne olmaktadır. 2000'li yılların kentsel sosyal hareketleri incelendiğinde kentlerin neoliberal politikalarla sermayeye yönelik dönüştürülmesine bir karşı duruş söz konusudur. Kapitalist sermaye sürecinin siyasal iktidarla eklemlenmesine karşı oluşan toplumsal hareketi Mayıs 2013'de Taksim Meydanında gerçekleşen Gezi Parkı eylemleri örneğinden incelemek mümkündür. Bu çalışma yeni sosyal hareketlerin teknoloji dolayımlı olarak hareketliliği mekân üzerinden nasıl kurduğu ve eyleme katılan grupların farklılıklarına rağmen nasıl bir araya geldiklerinin sosyal hareketler bağlamında analizine dayanmaktadır. Bu analizi yaparken de çalışmanın temel çıkış noktasını kent hakkı, kentsel adalet ve katılım noktaları oluşturmaktadır. Today, urban spaces are shaped by the global demands of capital. Gezi event also has started as an environmentalist social movement opposed to these demands, and a very short time turned into a revolt of the masses. In fact, as Harvey (2006) have pointed out, cities are places where the development of the surplus value depending on capitalism, and surplus value separates the social structure by dividing the social structure into classes and the city turns into a structure based on the mobilization of surplus value. While capitalism transforms the city within the framework of it's own logic, capitalism sees the city not only as the living environment at the same time as the exchange value of a commodity.Cities are the places of emergence of social movements at the same time. A global city in this sense carries urban conflict potential. Global city at the same time are plagued with increasing global prosperity abyss, deep economic, social and spatial segregation between the two extremes. When analysing the urban social movements of the 2000s, there is a critical stance toward conversion of the cities to capital with the neo-liberal policies. It is possible to examine Social movement against the articulation of the process of capitalist political power with the example of the actions took place in May 2013 in Taksim Square Gezi Park.This study is based on the analysis in the context of social movements, how the new social movements setting up the movement over the place by technology-mediated motility and how the action groups participating together in spite of differences between each other. While analysing, the principal starting point of the study was stated by the rights of the city, urban form of justice and participation points.
