Günümüzde internet, ulaşım gibi imkânların artmasıyla birlikte insanların birbirleriyle etkileşime geçmesi sayesinde küreselleşen dünyada en önemli aksiyonlardan biri turizm hareketleri olmuştur. Sadece ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel etkileri olmayıp ülke ilişkilerini dahi belirleyebilen bu sektörün önemi günden güne daha da artmaktadır. Ülkemiz için de en önemli gelir kaynaklarından biri olarak görülen turizm sektörü kırılgan bir yapıya sahiptir. Hassas bir sektör olan turizm ülkeler arasında yaşanan siyasi problemler, terör olayları gibi sektör dışı sorunlardan etkilenebildiği gibi kalifiye eleman yetersizliği, turizm işletmeciliğinin yetersizliği, turizm bölgelerindeki yatırım eksikliği ve tanıtım – pazarlama yetersizliği gibi temel problemlerden olumsuz yönde etkilenmektedir. Buradan hareketle bu çalışmada Marmaris bölgesinin turizm hareketlerinden nasıl etkilendiği ve bölge gelişimi için turizmin gerekliliği hakkında araştırmada bulunulmuştur. Bu kapsamda Marmaris'teki 3 - 4 ve 5 yıldızlı konaklama tesislerinin yöneticilerine anket uygulanmış ve turizmin Marmaris gelişimine etkilerinin yanında Marmaris'te turizmin eksiklikleri ve yapılması gerekenler de belirtilmiştir. Sonuç olarak elde edilen veriler ışığında Marmaris'in yüksek turizm potansiyelini efektif bir biçimde kullanabilmesi için bölgede altyapı-üstyapı çalışmalarına önem verilmesi, yerel yönetimlerin denetimleri arttırarak çarpık kentleşmeyi önlemesi tanıtım faaliyetlerini geliştirmesi ve turizm sektöründe işletme sahiplerinin yanında çalıştırılan personele turizm konusunda eğitimler verilerek bilinçlendirilmesi gerektiği saptanmıştır. One of the most important actions in our globalizing world has been tourism movements, thanks to the increase of opportunities and the interaction of people with each other. This sector, which has not only economic, social and cultural effects but also can determine country relations, is getting more and more important day by day. The tourism sector, which is seen as one of the most important income sources for our country, has a fragile structure. Tourism, a sensitive sector, can be affected by non-sectoral problems such as political problems and terrorist incidents among countries. Tourism is a sensitive sector, can be affected by non-sectoral problems such as political problems, terrorist incidents among countries as well as basic problems like inadequacy of qualifications, inadequacy of tourism business, lack of investment in tourism areas and inadequacy of publicity are adversely affected. In our study, it has been investigating how Marmaris region is affected by tourism movements and need for tourism for regional development.In this context, a questionnaire was applied to the managers of accommodation facilities which have 3-4 and 5-star in Marmaris andbesides the effects of tourism on development of Marmaris, the tourism shortages in Marmaris and the necessary things to be done were mentioned. As a result, in order to use high tourism potential of Marmaris effectively, it was determined that infrastructure works should be given importance, distorted urbanization should be prevented by increasing local inspections of administrations, promotional activities should be developed and the staff employed by the business owners in the tourism sector should be educated about tourism.
