Son yarım yüzyıl içerisinde bulundukları ülkelerden başka ülkelere çeşitli amaçlarla seyahat eden insanların sayısındaki artış, ülkelerde yarattığı sosyal ve ekonomik etkiler nedeniyle araştırmacılar açısından ilgi odağı haline gelmiştir. Ekonomi ve sosyal çevre üzerinde etkili bir unsur olan turizm sektörü; GSMH içindeki payı, dış ticaret açıklarını kapatmadaki yeri, diğer sektörlerle ilişkisi ve geniş istihdam olanakları sağlaması ile ülke ekonomisinde önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Bu tez çalışmasında, Türkiye ekonomisi içinde yer alan ekonomik üretim sektörlerinden birisi olan turizm sektörünün; üretim, katma değer, ihracat, ithalat ve diğer sektörlerle olan ilişkilerini ortaya çıkararak, sektörün ülke ekonomisi içindeki yerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, ilk olarak 2002-2016 yılları arasındaki turizm sektörüne ait belirli makroekonomik büyüklükler incelenmiştir. Daha sonra Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu tarafından yayınlanan son iki girdi- çıktı tablosu olan 2002 ve 2012 Girdi-Çıktı tabloları kullanılarak, söz konusu ilişkiler Girdi-Çıktı Analizi yardımıyla açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Girdi-çıktı tabloları kullanılarak sektörün ileri ve geri bağlantı katsayıları hesaplanmış, sektörün genel yapısı ve ekonomi için kilit sektör olma durumu analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca sektörün üretim ve istihdam çarpanı katsayıları hesaplanmış ve üretimin ithalata bağımlılık durumu incelenmiştir. Yapılan analiz sonucunda, turizm sektörünün katma değer açısından ülke ekonomisi için önemli olduğu ve sektördeki üretim ara girdisinde ithalatın payının arttığı görülmüştür. Turizm sektörüne yapılacak yatırımların ve artan talebin hem kendi sektörünü hem de diğer sektörleri uyararak, ekonomiyi canlandırdığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. In the last half century, the increase in the number of people travelling to countries other than their countries for various purposes has become a focus of interest for researchers because of the social and economic effects they have created in the countries. Tourism sector, which is an influential element in economy and social environment, has an important place in the country's economy with its share in GNP, its place in closing foreign trade deficits, its relationship with other sectors and its wide employment opportunities. In this thesis, it was aimed to determine the place of the tourism sector in the country by revealing its relations with production, value added, export, import and other sectors, which is one of the economic production sectors in the Turkish economy. For this purpose, tourism revenues and the number of tourists from 2002-2016 were expressed first and certain macroeconomic aggregates were analyzed. Then, using 2002 and 2012 Input - Output tables, which are the last two input - output tables published by Turkish Statistical Institute, these relationships were explained with the help of Input - Output analysis. Using the input-output tables, forward and backward connection coefficients of the sector were calculated and the general structure of the sector and the key sector for the economy were analyzed. In addition, production and employment multiplier coefficients of the sector were calculated and the dependence of production on imports were examined. As a result of the analysis, it was observed that the tourism sector is important for the country's economy in terms of added value and the share of imports in the production intermediate input in the sector is increasing. It was concluded that investments and increasing demand for tourism sector stimulated both its own sector and other sectors, stimulating the economy.
