Anadolu toprakları, çeşitli medeniyetlere ve topluluklara ev sahipliği yapmış ve Neolitik Dönemde en önemli yerleşim yerlerinden biri olmuştur. Bu yerleşim yerlerinden en önemlilerinden biri Burdur Hacılar bölgesidir. İlk yerleşim yeri olması nedeniyle hem kültürel hem de insanlık tarihi açısından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Hacılar antik yerleşkesinde yapılan arkeolojik kazı çalışmaları sonuçlarından faydalanarak, dönemin genel özellikleri, yerleşim yerleri ve seramik form ve teknik farklılıklar incelenmiştir. Bu dönemin dikkat çekici unsurlarından biri de inanç biçimi ve onun yaşam şekline yansımalarıdır. Anadolu’da Neolitik Dönemin en önemli öğelerden biri olan, döneminin kültürel ve yaşam biçimine dair bilgi edindiğimiz bereketi simgeleyen tanrıça heykelleridir. Pişmiş toprak (terracotta) objelerin varlığına Anadolu’da binlerce yıl öncesine ait buluntulardan anlamaktayız M.Ö. 8000 ile 5.500 arasına yerleştirdikleri Neolitik dönemde. Pişmiş toprak heykeller, Anadolu’da seramikli dönemin başlangıcından günümüze kadar kesintisiz olarak insan yaşam şekline paralel bir gelişme göstermiştir. Tüm bunların yanı sıra inanç dünyasındaki değişim, elde tek tek yapılan pişirilmiş toprak tanrı, tanrıça ve kutsal sayılan hayvan heykellerinin birden fazla yapılmasını zorunlu hale getirmiştir. Bu küçük heykeller aynı zamanda uygarlığı ve inanç sistemini anlamamıza da ışık tutmaktadır. Bu tez çalışmasında; Neolitik Dönem’in ikinci ve son evresi olan Geç Neolitik Çağ'ın Anadolu’da en iyi temsil edildiği merkezlerin başında gelen “Hacılar” antik yerleşkesindeki figürinlerin ortaya çıkış nedenleri form-teknik ilişkisini araştırılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda yorumlanıp biçimlendirilerek yapılan bu araştırma ve uygulamalar yazılı bir şekilde ortaya konulmuştur.
