Tourism activities thatare developing without slowing down all over the world affect the countries positivelyin economic terms. However, the tourism sector is highly sensitive to crisesthat occur due to economic, political or social reasons. The fact that the demand elasticity of the sector is high, alsoincreases the level of being influenced by the emerging crisis environment.Since the sector operates within the scope of international mobility, it can beaffected from national and international crises at different levels. Thissensitivity is extremely high especially in developing countries such asTurkey. The economic, social and communal changes that started with thepolitical tension experienced between Turkey and Russia in 2015 and then brokeout with the coup attempt in 2016 have affected the domestic and foreigntourism activities. In the study, it is aimed to reveal to what extent the2015-2016 crisis has affected the tourism sector. For this purpose, economicindicators such as tourism revenues obtained between 2000-2016 in Turkey,tourism expenditures, the share of tourism in GNP, the foreign trade deficit coverage ratio, tourismemployment rates, the number of visitors to the country, average per capitaexpenditure, average number of overnights, and occupancy rates are explored. Anattempt to determine the extent of the crisis is carried out by comparing the 2016data, during which the most obvious effects of the crisis are experienced, withthe data of previous years. As a result, the tourism data evaluated is found tobe the lowest in the last 16 years and the sector has been determined to beaffected seriously from the crisis. |

Tüm dünyadagelişimini hız kesmeden sürdüren turizm faaliyetleri ülkeleri ekonomik anlamdaolumlu etkilemektedir. Ancak turizm sektörü ekonomik, siyasi veya toplumsal nedenlerle meydana gelenkrizlere karşı oldukça duyarlılık göstermektedir. Sektörün talep esnekliğinin yüksek olması ortaya çıkankriz ortamından etkilenme düzeyini de arttırmaktadır. Sektör, uluslararasıhareketlilik kapsamında faaliyet gösterdiği için ulusal ve uluslararasıboyuttaki krizlerden farklı düzeylerde etkilenebilmektedir. Özellikle Türkiyegibi gelişmekte olan ülkelerde bu hassasiyet son derece yüksektir. 2015 yılındaTürkiye ve Rusya arasında yaşanan siyasi gerginlikle başlayan daha sonra 2016yılında darbe teşebbüsü ile patlak veren ekonomik, sosyal ve toplumsal değişimturizm sektörünü de etkilemiştir. Bu çalışmada, 2015-2016 krizinin turizmsektörünü ne derece etkilediği ortaya konulması amaçlanmaktadır. Bu amaçla,Türkiye’de 2000-2016 yılları arasında elde edilen turizm gelirleri, turizm giderleri, turizmin GSMH içindeki payı,dış ticaret açığını kapatma oranı, turizm istihdam oranları, ülkeye gelenziyaretçi sayıları, kişi başına düşen ortalama harcama miktarları, ortalamageceleme sayıları ve doluluk oranları gibi ekonomik göstergeler ortaya konulmaktadır.Yaşanan krizin en belirgin sonucunu gördüğümüz 2016 yılı verileri öncekiyılların verileri ile karşılaştırılarak krizin boyutu belirlenmeye çalışılmaktadır.Sonuçta değerlendirilen turizm verilerinin son 16 yılın en düşük verileriolduğu ve sektörün bu krizden ciddi anlamda etkilediği tespit edilmiştir. |
