Bilindiği üzere Türkiye, 2001 yılında ağır bir ekonomik kriz yaşamıştır. Bu krizin doğuşunda ekonomik yetersizlik ve darboğazların yanında siyasi belirsizliğin de çok büyük etkisi olmuştur. Ortaya çıkması, kötü yönetimi, ekonomide yol açtığı büyük hasar ve kriz sonrası süreçte siyasi tabloyu tamamen değiştiren yapısı ile 2001 krizi derin incelemeleri gerekli kılan bir durum yaratmıştır.
