Klasik liberalizmin babası olarak bilinen ve Aydınlanma Çağı düşünürlerini en fazla etkileyenlerden biri kabul edilen John Locke (16321704), bir İngiliz filozofu ve doktordu. Locke, empirisizminin ilk temsilcilerinden biri olarak kabul edilmiş ve diğer taraftan da onun çalışmaları, siyaset felsefesi ve epistemoloji üzerinde büyük bir etki bırakmıştır. Onun siyaset felsefesi hakkındaki görüşleri bugün hâlâ etkisini sürdürmektedir. Bu makalenin asıl amacı ise; John Locke’un siyaset felsefesibağlamında ortaya koyduğu belli başlı temel kavramları ve fikirleri analiz etmeye çalışmaktır |

John Locke , widely known as the father of classical liberalism, was an English philosopher and physician regarded as one of the most influential of Enlightinment thinkers. On one hand, Locke considered one of the first English empiricists, and on the other hand his works had a great impact upon the development of epistemology and political philosophy.His ideas on the political philosophy keep its importance today.
