Müdafaa-i Hukuk Cemiyetleri, Osmanlı Devleti’nin son yıllarında farklı isim ve farklı amaçlarla kurulmuşlardı. Ancak Mondros Mütarekesi’nin imzalanması ve İzmir’in Yunanlılar tarafından işgali üzerine, Anadolu’da Türk ahalisine içeride ve dışarıda yapılanları protesto etmek onların haklarını savunmak amacıyla faaliyetlerini hızlandırmışlardı. Bu arada Osmanlı Hükümeti’nin güçsüz ve itibarsızlığı dolayısıyla meydana gelen siyasi boşluk ortamında da bir hükümet ve devlet gibi faaliyetlerde de bulunmaya başlamışlardır. Yeri geldiğinde askerî yeri geldiğinde de siyasi ve sosyal faaliyetlerde bulunmuşlar, devlet gibi davranmışlardır. |

Associations for Defence of the National Rights were founded under different names and with different aims in the recent years of the Ottoman Empire. However, because of signing out Mondros Armistice and invasion of İzmir by Greeks,they accelerated their activities with the aim of protesting the interior and exterior events which were committed to the Turkish people in Anatolia.Meanwhile,they started to function as a government and state in the political gap which had emerged because of the weakness and disfavor of the Ottoman Empire.When it is appropriate they had military,political or social functions and they behaved as a state. |
