Özet: Bina içindeki doğal radyoaktivitenin başlıca sorumlusu radondur. Radonsolunması yoluyla radyasyona maruz kalan kişilerin aldığı dozların hesaplanabilmesiiçin bina içi radon konsantrasyonunun belirlenmesi önemlidir. Bu çalışmada,Zonguldak Karaelmas Üniversitesi Merkez Kütüphanesi'nin 12 ayrı noktasına CR-39pasif nükleer iz detektörleri yerleştirilerek 2008 yılı yaz mevsimine ait radonkonsantrasyonları ölçülmüştür. Merkez Kütüphanedeki ortalama radonkonsantrasyonunun 67.1 Bq/m3 olduğu bulunmuştur. Zemin kattaki yeni çalışmasalonunda TAEK'in kapalı mekanlar için belirlediği 400 Bq/m3 lük alt sınır değerindendaha yüksek bir konsantrasyon saptanmış, kullanıcılar ve özellikle de kütüphaneçalışanları açısından riskli olabilecek bu durum karşısında alınması gereken koruyucuönlemler bildirilmiştir.Anahtar kelimeler: Radon, bina içi radon konsantrasyonu, CR-39.RADON MEASUREMENTS OF KARAELMAS CAMPUS CENTRALLIBRARYAbstract: Radon is the major part of the natural indoor radioactivity. It is important todetermine the indoor radon concentration for calculating the exposed radiation dosesdue to radon inhalation. In this study, the radon concentrations were measured in 2008summer term at Zonguldak Karaelmas University Central Library by using CR-39passive nuclear track detectors which were located on 12 different points in the library.It was found that, the average radon concentration on the Central Library was 67.1Bq/m3. It was recorded that a radon concentration value at the new study room on theground-floor was higher than 400 Bq/m3, TAEK's lower limit value for indoors. Thismay be a health risk for the library users and especially for the staff. Therefore,necessary precautions that must be taken have been stated.Key words: Radon, indoor radon concentration, CR-39. |
