Aim: The study was done as a descriptive study to determine the levels of hopelessness and the factors that influence the hopelessness of the senior students of School of Health and Medical Vocational High School. Method: The population of the study was 240 senior students of Mersin University School of Health Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Mersin Medical Vocational High School Department of Nursing, Department of Dental Prosthesis, Emergency Medical Technicians. The study was conducted by 225 students in total. At the study, Beck Hopelessness Scale and a questionnaire form containing socio-demographic data were used. Amaç: Araştırma, Mersin Üniversitesi Sağlık Yüksekokulu, Mersin Sağlık Meslek Lisesi son sınıf öğrencilerinin umutsuzluk düzeylerini ve etkileyen etmenleri belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır.Yöntem: Araştırmanın evrenini Mersin Üniversitesi Sağlık Yüksek Okulu Ebelik ve Hemşirelik, Mersin Sağlık Meslek Lisesi Hemşirelik, Diş Protez Teknikerliği, Acil Tıp Teknikerliği bölümlerinde öğrenim gören 240 son sınıf öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Evrenin tamamına ulaşmak hedeflenmiş olup, toplam 225 öğrenci araştırmaya katılmayı kabul etmiştir. Çalışmada Beck Umutsuzluk Ölçeği ile sosyo-demografik bilgileri içeren anket formu kullanılmıştır. Veriler, 11.5 paket programı, MINITAB 15.0 paket programının demosu kullanılarak işlenmiş ve analiz edilmiştir. Ölçek puanına ait normallik kontrolü Shapiro Wilk testi ile yapılmış, normal dağılım göstermediği belirlenmiştir. Sosyo-demografik özelliklere göre ölçek puanları bakımından farklılıklar için Mann Whitney U ve Kruskall Wallis testleri kullanılmıştır. İkili karşılaştırmalar için Mann Whitney U testi kullanılmıştır. Kategorik değişkenler arasındaki farklılıklar için Pearson ki-kare testi kullanılmıştır.
